I have been interested in Nids since i started warhammer last year but through reading about their complex rules and finding out that Tyranids have an old codex it kinda dissuaded me from doing them for my starting race so I hoped on the Chaos train. However now with the soon to be new codex I am starting to build up units that I have faith are going to remain good like Gaunts, Tervigons, Gargoyles. Ultimately i want to run a Hive Tyrant and one of the new giant HQs that are rumored but im not sure if I want a winged tyrant or a swarm lord, the rumors ive heard about both are awesome. Anyone wana give me some personal feelings on Flyrant vs. Swarmlord

The Flyrant has guns, the Swarmlord does not, and thats the dealbreaker for me. I think most people here would tell you to hold off until the new Codex drops to see what sort of new units/changes take place before delving to far into this.

A Flyrant brings a lot more to the table than the Swarmlord currently, but all may change next year. I recommend magnetising the head and arms so you can run either.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!" |

Swarmlord usually doesnt do anything unless youre opponent is an idiot and moves to the part of the table hes set up camp in. Hes slow and has no shooting, and an absolute GOD in melee combat. Flyrants nowhere near as durable, but thats not saying much lol. Flyrants especially with ironarm are crazy strong and they shoot like crazy, and due to wings theyre fast as feth. I havent faced nids as a tau player yet, but as an ork player the flyrant was the sole reason i had issues because i had nothing to pen his armor outside pklaws, and if he got T8 or T9 from Ironarm i couldnt even ROF him down with shootas and i'd rather not shoot lootas at him since even they wound on 5s/6s. Swarmlord? Just shot the feth out of him and ignored him otherwise lol. Tyranids are probably the next army i pick up, purely because i refuse to play marines lol. But im not buying any until i find a too good to pass up ebay deal, which because of the new dex dropping soon that might never happen for me lol

Flyrants VS Swarmlord, I would go with Flyrant. Swarmy is an absolute nightmare in cc but good luck getting him there. I would also say to wait until the codex drops. Who knows what will be good and what won't. I bought a small khorne daemon army before their codex dropped, and had 40 bloodletters just sitting afterwards.
