At my local wargaming store I am constantly being destroyed by daemon princes every week and I wondered if getting a FW hammerhead turret would be good at destroying a daemon prince because of the new hammerhead rules (and longstrike just buffs them)
my options are...
Missile pod turret (two giant missile pods)
Long barrel burst cannon turret (two giant burst cannons)
Fusion blaster turret (two giant fusion blasters)
Plasma cannon turret (two giant plasma cannons)
so what one?

Seems a bit unnecessary. Just take more fire warriors. Even with snap shots, one turn of blasting away with a couple squads should do it.

Please don't make requests like this on Dakka.

No they won't. Vehicles can't take the velocity tracker as an upgrade, the only two ways to get it on a vehicle are the Sky Ray and missile pod Hammerhead, which both have one built-in. Which should give you a pretty strong hint that the missile pod Hammerhead is the answer to your question.

Just beware of the major drawback to the FW turrets: they're two separate weapons, and thanks to GW's idiotic decision to remove the ability to shoot like a fast vehicle you'll only be firing one of your turret guns at full BS if you move at all.

Then go buy IA3. Asking for people to give you the rules so you don't have to buy the book is against forum rules.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Good point. Forgot a new book came out. I still have the old one.

But just run broadsides with heavy missile pods and throw velocity trackers on them. Everyone else seems to use em right now and they work pretty great at everything else.

How about custom (not OP or UP) rules?
the missile pod turret can be a twin linked SMS or two SMS
would that be fair for a standard 40k game?
(i know the opponent has to agree to it)

Why aren't you using missilsides or missilsuits to deal with flyers?
