And now -

Hi all - this is a 6,000 pt / 16 platoon Blood, Guts and Glory 4th/vet Tank Company, which will never be played as such but gave me a list of things to buy, as I wanted a force I could choose all sorts of lists for FoW and BG from. I know it is cookie cutter, and historically inaccurate in paintjob and force composition, and the bases are more Vampire Counts that Armored Infantry, still fairly pleased with the outcome. I decided early on I couldn't do justice to a 4th AD force, so this is just a representative AD Task Force, albeit with a Colonel and General along for the ride.

505 transfers - would have been a few more but I couldn't coax the rubbish BF transfers for the Thunderbolt off the sheet, need to find some replacements. The I-94 range from Minibits and stars from Doms Decals are superb though. 80 vehicles (all but the jeeps) have a unique serial number, however only the lead E8, 'Hawkeye', has a name - other tanks will gain extra stowage and painted / transfer names as they prove themselves in battle.

As well as the above, I have bought Open Fire this year, and a Tiger and Typhoon, and the only things that remain unpainted are a dozen or so infantry, 2 37mm guns and the free tank that came with Fall of the Reich (tvm PSC/BG guys). I think that's pretty efficient

Whilst painting this army I've been immersing myself in the background, and have read WWII histories by Anthony Beevor and B Liddell-Hart, 'Pattons Vanguard' by Don Fox, 'Armored Thunderbolt' by Steven Zaloga, 'Patton : Ordeal and Triumph' by Ladislas Farago. much of 'US Army Armored Division 1943-1945 Organization, Doctrine, Equipment by Yves Bellanger, and am now on 'Demolishing the Myth : The Tank Battle at Prokhorovka, Kursk, July 1943 : An Operational Narrative' by Valeriy Zamulin, so at the very least I've learned a huge amount I didn't know about WWII. Probably I now know as much as a significant fraction of 1% as much as some of you guys

More pics in the gallery, C&C welcome, thanks to all on here for the inspiration

TL-DR : Tanks!

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Mine was similar to yours, except I could just use the first photo for 6 months ago and now

Seriously though - fantastic looking force, and well done for sticking with it and producing such an impressive collection of miniatures.

The 'finished army' feeling is a great one, hope you enjoy it

Thanks all, really appreciate it. A small, insane part of my brain is telling me if I did 10 or 12 armies more the same size I could have a whole division
