Ok dakka, I'm looking into grabbing some guard and I already own a sizeable DA army. Was wondering how I should go about synchronizing between the 2 armies. I'm also considering popping a dark shroud somewhere in this list since I get a bonus to cover on squads within 6" and this is definitely a gunline army.

Goal of this army is to let the DA shoot anything that makes it into 24" range with mass bolters wile the guard pop any transports / shoot up any vehicles that show their face. I've learned from multiple games that mass bolter is great against TEQ armor so not fearing my lack of AP 2 guns. Help me make a list dakka, will help me figure out what guard models to pickup.

TBH, your IG can do gun line. don't force your DA to as well. I actually suggest taking DA primary and azreal. put azzy in one of your huge blob squads and then take 3 units of DW terminators for precision strikes against the things that would hurt your IG the most.

That could definitely work. By blob squad I'm guessing you mean dropping the auto cannons out of the infantry squads and maybe combining them into one big lump?

Also what would you recommend dropping from the list. Azrael and only one squad of terminators w/ PC only leaves me with 135 points leftover. I could run one squad and a tac marine squad, but feels pretty garbage for just those.

if you split the armies 50/50 point wise, you can, take azzy, and 2 units of DW (one AC, one PC) w/ 1 TH/SS for a total of 700 I think? this leaves you with either A. buy some more DA that synch with guardsman gunline, (IE, darkshroud, or ADL, and a ML2 libby) or, maor guardsmen. I suggest putting azreal in a rather large platoon blob (he gives a 4++ to the WHOLE UNIT).

Or you can buy the DA wargear piece that gives every unit within 3" a 4+ inv (you can place 1 model of every unit within 3" of him).
