I haven't played any 6th ed yet, Stopped playing 40k in 4th early 5th, I play Fantasy at the moment.
So I have narrowed it down to 3 choices. Chaos possibly with Demons, Space Wolves or Blood Angels. I know the 2 Marines are older codices(hope they get new ones in 2014), I don't play competitive maybe a local tourny here or there. So tell which one and why, I'm torn!!

What armies do you play in Fantasy? Are there certain styles of play you gravitate to?

I play WoC.
Just looking for an army that can do a little of everything if that's possible. I'm more aggressive in your face type, hence WoC. I love melee but I know it's not the key to 6th, would like some viable melee units tho. I want the army to look good on the table, balanced, fun, multiple builds and able to beat other armies. Does that help? lol

Daemons might be a good fit.
I play a list that has 2 FMC which can both shoot and are powerful in melee backed up by hounds, daemonettes, horrors and a skull cannon. Nice mix of mobility shooting and melee.
They would also have the benefit of being used in both games.

Are most the entries in the Demon book viable? I love the bloodletter, plaguebarer, nurglings well pretty much all the models. Plus I hate one build armies, I like to mix it up.

Deamons would be good choice I think.
You could also use them in fantasy, so it would be a double win.

Play Space Marines with a chaos twist. Build units that can be fielded out of both books at 1st and get into a lot games where you can run counts as units and try out a few different tactics. If you like the look of chaos then build them using chaos kits. CSM will feel a lot like your WoC for good reason. C: SM can be played 5 different ways and none of them feel the same. Plus every time they come out with a new power armor book your army will likely have 90% of the models painted and assembled.

If you play WoC, in Fantasy either Demons or SW.
Demons for obvious reasons.
Or SW for cool conversions (Dont know why but WoC and SW Bits mix well and give cool looking characters)

Ya I would go with the Daemons probably. You like close combat but they have some awesome magic shiznit haha
You can play them in fantasy as well and you like the look of all the models so that is a double win. Just either magnetize the bases or just mount them on the square bases since bases in 40k are less important since you don't have to put them in trays
I like space wolves too they have some cool models compared to other space marine guys. I think they are a decent army and you said you aren't playing competitive.
Just go with something you like the looks of first because noone ever just collects a single army so you can get a different army next. Plastic addiction problems....
