Hey all. I've been playing the Grey Knights for a couple years now and I've built up quite a bit for the Inquisition side of my army. I even had an idea of building a IG army to work as an allied force so I could use their heavy support options. But, seeing that they have released a Inquisition Codex I'm wondering if there anything in it that is actually worth it? Also, does that codex super seed the GK codex that I've used for this part of my army? I've put a good bit of work into this part of my army and if the new codex just flushes it all away I may as well just sell that part off. I hope someone can help me out with this.

What Codex:Grey Knights can do that Codex Inquisition can't.
  • Take Inquisitor Valeria
  • Take any of the 4 big assassins
  • Include a Banisher in a warband
  • Take a Storm Raven
  • Take any type of grey knight unit

  • What Codex:Inquisition can do that Codex Grey Knights can't.
  • Take more then 1 henchmen warband with an inquisior other then Corteaz
  • field warbands with out corteaz or grey knights
  • Make henchmen scoring with out inquisitor corteaz*
  • Take a priest in a warband
  • Take a Land Raider of any type as a dedicated transport
  • Take Valkyries
  • Be battle brothers with an imperial army
  • be included in an amy that already has a primary and allied detachment from two other codices*
  • *not at the same time

So yeah, there are some trade-offs but as some one who got codex grey knights because I wanted to play the inquisition I am very pleased with this codex and see it as an upgrade. It might just be wishful thinking but the 4 assassins might have been excluded becouse they will be released as a dataslate formation. Same with Valaria, she might be a dataslate character but I actually don't expect that one and I'm not sure why she would have been left out.

Oh, and the fluff section (it makes up most of the ebook) is very cool aswell. It deals with more then the 3 big branches of the inquisition. For example the fluff behind my inquisitors is that they are members of the ordo mechanicus, something I did not know about until I got this book.

What inquisitorial units have you made? I'll let you know if you can play them in the new book and what you would need to take to use them with IG.
