Having never used a SM librarian in Term Armor in a list, I'm exploring it as a HQ choice for an allied Red Hunters SM list with my Sisters of Battle. Either running him in a large blob with Uriah Jacobus and sisters or in a drop pod with stern guard vets.

Suggestions?

Psykers can get awesome powers. The problem is that the best are either maledictions or blessings, so it makes deploying a Librarian in a drop pod somewhat wasteful because it assumes that your librarian will survive the drop. Most opponents won't let a sternguard squad live, even if they have a 2+ save standing in front of them.

Your best bet with a SM libby is to keep them cheap and allow for them to either be deployed on the table as you describe with a blob.. Level 2 preferably, and give Invis or Hallucination a shot. Failing that, default to the good Witchfires and drop in with the pod, where you can really make whichever Witchfires you generate shine with some precision during the drop. I would run him in Power Armor because if someone wants him dead, terminator armor and 2 wounds won't help him.

Psychic Shriek is where it's at. Last Saturday I rolled a 15 in two separate games. The ignore cover really lets it shine.

Honestly, taking Codex SM for their librarians are kind of a waste for multiple reasons. SM librarians don't get access to the best powers (Divination) and have no access to a unique list like most (all?) other psykers do. Also, besides the Captain, almost all of the other SM characters are better choices for their cost.

Also, as Sisters, you have access to Codex: Inquisition. This means you can get the best powers (Divination), for cheaper (55 pts vs 100 pts) and with no troop tax (i.e. you don't have to buy one of the weakest troop choices in the game, Tactical Marines).
