Hey mates, as I continue to learn and create a list with my GK's I have recently been able to acquire a few more models but I am still kinda struggling to put together a list that can be pretty competitive in this edition, however I would like to avoid using henchman as possible, as I want to try and play with Marines only without having the feeling of IG in my Army. At the moment, I currently have:

* 10x Terminators (1x w/Daemon Hammer, SB, 2x Psycannon, Halberd, 7x Halberd, SB) Unit usually has Psybolt ammunition.

* 20x Grey Knights in Power Armor (Bodies built but no weapons on them yet, want to be able to use them for both Strike Squads as well as Interceptors).

* 1x Dreadknight w/Greatsword, Incinerator, Personal Teleporter.

*2x Stormraven Gunships, each w/Hurricane Bolters, Assault Cannon, Multi-Melta (Obviously have Psybolt Ammunition).

*Coteaz

*Draigo

Now granted it isn't much at the moment, but hopefully it is the start of something more to build upon. Needless to say, still need help in addressing how to make a competitive GK list in this current edition, as part o the reason I went these guys is there easy accessibility to make an army quickly, therefore save money in the long run. Anyways, what lists work best in 6th edition and if so, best way to utilize the new Inquisition Book or Inquisitors in this edition w/Grey Knights? Appreciate all the help.

I would run the terminators as Paladins - up the psycannons to 4. Combined with Draigo, this is pretty devastating fire base that is also a monster in close combat. The Dreadknight is better with ranged weapons in most situations, and works great as a support unit for the Paladins. If you send him into CC alone, he is vulnerable to AP2 weapons and doesn't have enough attacks against swarms. The teleporter is great for getting behind the enemy and causing chaos. He will be a bullet magnet, so get as much out of him as possible before he dies. I would suggest running some of the standard power armor marines as purifiers. They do a great job of softening up enemy in cover.

Magnetize the backpacks on the GK in PA, at the least.

That was the plan, as that way I can switch them out for Interceptors or Strike Squad Grey Knights whenever I wanted to. But besides that, I do like the idea of a Paladin Squad, as yes it's a point sink but they can dish out a lot of firepower and damage in CC. That being said, I'm assuming I would have to take Draigo to make them troops, as it would give me a unit with good staying power. However, I am not sold on running Paladins w/Purifiers, as I would have to take Crowe in order to make them troop choices, but with that being said, does anyone still run the GK Purifier List w/Crowe or is that list dead? Is Mordrak list with taking with hiis Ghost Terminators?

I am still debating is whenever I should add another Dreadknight to the mix, or use the points for more Strike Squads. Because besides that, I am still trying to put together a list that is competitive in this edition with just the GK's, but I can see why many say its hard to do this w/no support from Henchman squads. Another thing I am debating is what Force Weapons I should use be unit. For the terminators/Paladins, Halberds and Hammers are an easy choice, however for the Strike Squads/Interceptors, I heard many prefer Halberds as although its super expensive, the +2 Initiative in CC is really nice to have. Thoughts?

Paladins with Halberds are great against anything but other Terminators. They will get chewed up by normal Terminators without Hammers. Draigo makes Paladins troops. Also, you can run a single Paladin as a troop choice to fill out force org. They are also great for challenging objectives. I have two Solodins that I deep strike at objectives. Run Draigo with 10 Paladins - Draigowing - and it still works very nicely even in 6th edition. Make sure you don't forget Draigo's grand strategy, which can boost the Paladins as well.

Try to get more Hammers for the Terminator squad. I personally use 2 hammers / 5 termies.

In my opinion Crowe is a trap: If you want scoring purifiers, just use Grand Strategy for that. Also note that purifiers get far better mileage from melee weapons than Strikers/interceptors do so plan accordingly.

When you magnetize the backpacks, use at least 3mm x 1mm magnets (3mm =~1/8"), preferably 3mm x 2mm.
Smaller magnets are not strong enough for handling the miniatures from the backpacks.

You can magnetize the arms too if you wish, but it will get really fiddly fast. I did it, but I have glued many of the weapons after that with diluted PVA: that way the arms and weapons don't fall off, but the bond is so weak that you can still change them if you need.

I heard Crowe wasn't that great of a character, but I do like Purifiers for the fact that they can take 4x Psycannons, which is always nice to have do to the number of shots they put out, but what do you mean better mileage from melee weapons? Because the way I currently see it, I would give Purifiers and Strike Squads Psybolt Ammo and Swords, but Interceptors seem to be the most cost-effective w/Halberds as they will be guaranteed to get in CC more often then the other units. Or am I wrong in this re-guard lol.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Crowe is not a trap. He's dirt cheap as far as GK HQs go and thats well worth the benefit of troop choice Purifiers.

Scoring isn't enough because you will probably want the Elite slots for other things. And Grand Strategy can go on other things.

Purifiers are great until you run to a helldrake or two. Then you will quickly understand that only a landraider offers adequate protection against the chicken from hell. I like purifiers too but they aren't competitive anymore. You will get much better results with the added mobility of interceptors and the added resilience of terminators along with some dreadknight support plus a psyfledread or two.
Draigo wing is also a fun based army since you are playing the rock paper scissors game and tau-eldar are the paper to your rock hard army...
