Subject: Warhammer 40K Video Bat Rep LVO Taudar Raffle Army vs Iron Hands
In this bat rep, Reecius busts out the recently completed Taudar army we are putting up for raffle at the Las Vegas Open against Raw Dogger's Iron Hands! And, it's on a MEGA MAT, son! Check out the LVO at Frontline Gaming and you can see our Mega Mat KickStarter by Google searching that exact term!
I enjoyed the quality of production for report, the beautiful paint job and great-looking mats.
However, I felt like the game itself wasn't very interesting. The Iron Hands list wasn't very competitive (1 Storm Talon, Outflanking Scouts on foot, no Apoth in command squad, no chains on CM, etc...). The Iron Hands deployed poorly as the whole point of counter-deploying is to put yourself in an advantageous position, which they did not do. Further, they played poorly (splitting wounds between the Taudar MC's instead of focusing one down, sending in units one at a time to allow the Tau to focus fire them down, etc) and got very lucky (Chapter Master saves, Reecius accidental cheating). I felt these mistakes were beyond simply not knowing the enemy's codex, as I don't think this combination of deployment and tactics was cohesive.
Regardless, I appreciate the time you put into these reports and your effort shows well.
Taudar is crazy powerful, for sure. And we backed up the cheating and put his Vindie back on the table, and it was his first time against Tauday so all of that factors in, too.

He should have combat squaded his units in rhinos, in none KP missions its necessary every time for marines IMO. MSU helps close the gap and the ability to turn it on and off depending on mission is big. Aside from that all I can suggest is that from my play testing White scars CT is by far the best one with all the MC's running around the game. The ability to HnR and shoot and re-engage is priceless. I use it and the only bike in my army is my chapter master.
Just as an FYI, the Command and Control Node (Twinlink), and Multi Spectrum Sensor Suite (Ignore Cover), can only be used in the friendly TAU SHOOTING phase. It cannot be used to intercept or overwatch.

I know you backed it up, that was my point. You ended up doing him a favor (since you put his Vindi back and basically didn't use the commander for a turn) which was yet another advantage in his favor, and he still didn't put up much of a fight.
I understand fighting a new codex/list can be very frustrating and a rough learning experience, but I feel like things like focus-firing and not sending in your units piecemeal apply regardless of whether or not you know the codex.

Yes, I know, Jason misspoke, I didn't use them that way. But thanks for pointing that out.
@Red Corsair
I have actually been recommending that he take WS allies as that allows him to Scout a Tac squad and it gives him H&R on the command squad. You're right it's a good idea.
@Ricter
Yeah, it was a learning experience and he is actually a quite good player, but this list is so overpowering.
I don't know if its any different in BAO, but you should not be able to put objectives within 6" of a board edge, so hiding it behind the bastion was not kosher.
can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

True story. It was a mistake and we both missed it.
@Lovechunks
Thanks for the support, and glad you like the mats!
