I just won an eBay auction for a revenant titan ($185 with free shipping) that I couldn't turn down. Now I need to find a base for it. I'm assuming that the large oval MC bases are too small. I was thinking about hitting up Hobby Lobby for one of the pre-cut wooden oval plaque type things. Would that work? How would I gue my titan to it? Is there a place that sells bases? I did get a Leviatan Mortis from Dreamforge and I haven't used the base provided cause it wasn't needed and I might see if that fits first.

Regardless of what base I use what's the best way to attach the titan to the base? Is glue sturdy enough or should I pin it down? I'm so excited to get to work on this titan but I want to iron out all of the details before I do anything I can't undo.

I'm thinking that the bulk won't be a problem attaching the figure to the base if it's balanced correctly.

What do I use to attach it?

I've seen people drill up into the foot and use a screw to hold the model in place.

Will that work with FW resin? Cause it's something I could do.

Also, what are the rules for basing a titan? Is there a base size requirement?

A base for the R is up to you and nobody else.Remember its yours and not theirs. If you mount it just standing straight up or in a more dynamic,I would still recommend pinning both feet down.Better to over strengthen from the start then to deal with a weakness issue at the wrong moment. Also bases should have some heft to them ,walkers and titans are notorious for being top heavy.Large real rocks will solve this problem easy. Now this is the part to remember ",Watch" the scenery you use because if it's not in a display case it will get dusty an difficult to clean without damaging your work. .Look to the gallery on this forum for inspiration and have fun that is the main thing.

Speaking puerly hypothetically, here: You can drill FW resin and cut it with a hobby knife - no reason why a screw shouldn't bite. I'd make absolutely sure to pre-drill, though, as a chunk of resin doesn't have fibers to be split and compressed to make room for the screw shaft, like soft wood does. The last thing you want is to crack the foot during attachment. Otherwise, a screw sounds ideal - it's a sturdy pin plus positive grip. Couple that with some 2-part epoxy on the sole of the foot and it should be as close to bulletproof as you're likely to get it.

On the base, how thick is the Leviathan's? If it's GW-style plastic, I might lean towards using a wood plaque. The additional thickness will help any screws or pins resist torque, which is likely to be the greatest issue. Thicker wood is also less likely to flex, if the model isn't perfectly balanced.

As far as the base size on the titans go,well that's a head scratcher.Myself personally ,I am a minimalist .I make my bases just big enough for stability.I take into account that I am the one that has to carry the rock of ages around and nobody else.Nice thing about this approach is that I use just enough ground cover to make it less boring.I don't have a big display case. This also helps to work around terrain features that oversize bases wont.

oadie, sorry I didn't catch your post in time.Istill chopstick type or as my buddy says"I am as slow as a 100 year old man on Vallium "Resin isnt to forgiving so drill very carefully and slowly.Use a steel bolt for your pin .Make sure your hole is over sized.Pack it with 2 ton resin adhesive ,its a two part product found at any hardware store, place the bolt in the resin packed hole prop your project up so as not to fall over and let it sit .I recommend 8to12 hours.Your idea on the wood plaque base is spot on for the concerns you have .It is sturdy, easy to work with and easy to get from any craft shop.

Wow for 180 that is a crazy solid pick up there. As for base would you consider using a wood plinth type base? Aids in pinning the model in place and can allow for further weighting options such as sinkers etc. Also makes for a great display.

Splitting the foot is a concern if the hole isn't the right width, you could probably drill slightly wider, fill with milliput (or some other epoxy putty) and screw into the milliput instead. I've used it around the house when putting up shelves and the likes when the spot you wanted to drill turned out crumbly, or is mortar etc. (most often I use when there is no raw plugs handy, but tbh it does a better job when given time to set right )

Even stronger solution might be to properly tap a threaded hole into the feet and attach to the base with a matching sized bolt. depends if you have or can get a hold of a tapping set I guess.

congrats!

Once you have the body built, take a look at it from the top down to get an idea of how big that is.

Then kind of judge that the to body sizes (i.e. bulk) of the various other minis (25mm base, 40mm, etc.) and try to guess.

failing all of that....go with a CD size, or a pie plate.

How to mount it will depend on how you want to transport it.
(will it be one piece, or several, etc.).

best of luck and post some pics once you get it going!

Same here. People didn't even bother to buy something like that. Cause they preferred casual 40k games to apocalypse. Now everyone is rushing, and the funniest part is that people who's critisism is against it, will be the ones to make it regular. Jesus, you haven't seen anything yet. I m sure we will see something like, dire avengers x 5 dire avengers x5, some gak low pts cost HQ, revenant. Period.

You mean Eldar Jetbikes x3, Eldar Jetbikes x3

Amazing model though, Revenant Titan. Love it to bits.

OP: you should base the titan with a little model of all the codexes and supplements in 40k on fire.

My problem is not the amazing model. Yes it is lovely, yes apocalypse is a great game, but still that's what it is. 40k is another game. Flyer addition? We endured it. Come on GW give us a break. Sorry for the rage in the wrong.
as for the model I would try to make something rather big and heavy. Isn't the oval flyer base matching the size? Sorry for my ignorance. I thought the emperor teached it is a blessing
