I was wondering if anyone had pictures or ideas they could share on how to make a Gundam look like a Tau Riptide. Here is the Gundam I plan to use:

Pla plates and patience plus something to fill the gaps. Personally if it were me id use a real grade vs the high grade (far more detail same price). If you use a real grade it will come with a frame which will allow you to make it how ever you want if you are willing to put in the time. I have also thought of doing this xD you might wanna go talk to the guys over at gundameclipse they are pro at gundam conversions and have some 40k players (most being mech based armys).

Also you might wanna look at the 1:100 scale 1:144 is kinda small if you ever got a gundam action figure they are that size. If there is anything you wanna know about gundams just lemme know I convert every gundam I've ever gotten xD even turned a zaku II and some endless waltze zaku into a SD. I think ill take a pic of one of my 1:144 gundams next to a crisis suit to give you a size comparison.

I would think Patlabor series would look more so like them...IMO

They are both big stompy robots with giant guns. All you really need to do is drop the 5th finger and stick on some Tau weapon systems. Some additional Tau-like symbols could be put on and then paint the thing.

Call it an experimental Gue'vesa Riptide.

I kept the body pretty much stock, I switched out the feet for riptide feet and modified the right arm to hold the riptide gun. I modified the left to hold the shield and magnets to put the secondary weapons in place. I'm also switching out the head with a paulson games mecha head.

I'd show pictures but its various stages of complete. The body's and right arm are converted and painted. The conversion work is done but I still have a lot of painting to do and my painting ADD has kicked in and I'm working on something else right now.

I have one of these and it's only about an inch taller and quite a bit bulkier. But it's got all the parts you'd need for any of the different load outs, and most of the armor can be removed. Also I personally love this model.

I think it'd work fine as a substitute.

Yeah, that is awesome, but I might as well just get another Riptide instead of pay that much for a Gundam...
