Been kind of unproductive lately, but now I have finally started a project I have been looking forward to for a long long time.

The duel between Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim have for a long time been something I have wanted to do, and when the miniatures came out for these two characters I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed with the execution of this epic moment from the Fulgrim novel.I love the miniatures, and the attention to detail on both are amazing, but the display base just didn't do it for me, it was too over the top.
I decided to go for something a little more like the scene from the novel cover and strip everything down so the two of them was in focus, instead of the pile of dead marines they were dueling on they would be battling out on a simpler field of battle and moved much closer together to emphasize the aspect of them actually fighting.
I also opted for a bit of a height advantage for Fulgrim as is the case on the artwork, and went with a triangle irregular plinth that I have saved for a special project.

Enough talk, on to the pictures!

The basic shape of the base is done, now comes all the detailing and the subtle changes needed to integrate the two into the scene completely.

And the base without Ferrus, the only thing I have used of the original display bases so far is a section with some shattered storm shields that I cut out.

That's it for now, comments and critique are very welcomed so don't hold yourself back

Thanks

Project is moving slowly ahead and the base is soon to be finished for primer.

And besides that I have been testing out purples (gotta love working in a hobby shop) as I have real trouble deciding how to go about painting Fulgy... So many choices

I also have a few IH and EC models in the works, might toss them in here as well

A small update:

I have a bit more progress on the choice of purple, I think I'm getting there

Not entirely happy with his eyes yet, but that'll get fixed at a later stage.

And the base is done and basecoated

Moving slowly on, hopefully after all this Christmas is over I can find some more time for this project.

A small update, found out there's been a small hair in my paint.. Luckily it's only a basecoat so it should be pretty easy to fix.

Thanks man and happy 2014 to all

I have decided to fix the eye problem(still needs the iris ofc), as I had to add some more depth to the hair anyway. I also have Ferrus' head almost complete.

The base is also done, and work is moving along on the minis themselves.

And a look at my organized mess, this is actually the tidiest my desk has been for a while

Very nice work. What do you use for your brass/bronzes as far as paint? The purple is a great tone.
