Tonight was the first time in awhile that I played against Grey Knights with my orks. The guy ran 2 squads of terminators with various force weapons, a librarian and Coteaz we each in their own units for prescience.

Between all of the 2+ saves and the halberds and other force weapons, my Boyz and Nobz got slaughtered,

So does any ork players have any recommendations for taking in terminators and specifically Grey Knight termites? Assaulting with mass units of 20+ Boyz did not take enough out. My few PKs worked well but they didn't last after surviving the first round.

Looking for ork suggestion before allies preferably

Thanks

Hmm. Sheer weight of numbers should have carried the day for you.

I'm not an Ork player, but I do play GK, and my worst opponents have always been Orks. Lots and lots of Orks. I can never shoot enough before they make it into CC, and then the weight of attacks far out strips my own. Yeah, I'll be killing a lot of Orks every CC, but I'll be locked into CC allowing the rest of his army to go anywhere it needs to. Every GK Terminator I lose is a huge blow to the effectiveness of my army, while you can (theoretically) lose 20-30 Orks every phase and still be able to win the game.

The best I can hope for is to make it to an objective, and sit on it until the end of the game. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Don't rush in cc vs gk termies. Shoot them down. Shootaboyz are a termie-bane. They do more damage and loose much less (pointwise). Actually, a termie list is one of the easiest to face with orks that got some boyz.
Do you have shootaboyz or sluggaboyz? Sluggaboyz are not worth taking anymore since 6 ed hit.

I've never had trouble with GK. I don't even know what they do, just that my Orks roll right over them no sweat.

Once i've faced draigo-pallies back in 5 edition and rushed them with my choppa boyz and that guy...passed ~50 2+ saving throws in a row. Untill such dice issues happen to u, u're gona have easy time vs gk termies.

As another GK player, I have to concur with the others. Maybe you just had unlucky dice or your opponent rolled great saves? Ordinarily I wince when I play against hordes wtih my GK. Sheer volume of fire/bodies just threatens to overrun me eventually.

I have to agree with the consensus here, I've never had that much trouble with Grey Knights simply because their eliteness just makes it easier for our mass of boyz to chew them out with overwhelming amounts of dakka and choppas.

For your case in particular if you MUST get into close combat with said terminators/pallies, one of their major weaknesses are Meganobz. The changes with the majority of their force weapons becoming AP3 means that those terminators wielding halberds will have their attacks bounce of the Meganobz shiny 2+ armour save while the few ones wielding daemonhammers will be striking simultaneously with your meganobz who, typically will have the charge, will likely survive due to their lack of attacks compared to yours or lead to a mutual destruction of both units but they will ultimately lose in the long run given that he will likely have invested more points in them and a crucial scoring unit in a low model count army. Never use normal footslogging Nobz against Grey Knights as their force weapons negate the FNP from the painboy which leaves them dangerously open to instant death that the 2+ armour from the Meganobz prevents.

Other than that I would suggest focus firing with lots of long-ranged dakka with things like lootas, shootas and maybe even burna-wagons to pile on the saves for him to take. You could even throw in some Shokk Attack Gunz for him to try and save against since they lack the ubiquitous storm shield 3++ invuln. saves common in vanilla SM armies. Only after you've whittled them down to half their number THEN you charge in en masse.

I'd make it shorter: Never use normal footslogging nobz.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I did run about 50:50 shoota and sluggardly boys last night and ultimate my dice were below average and his above.

Good information all around! Thanks.

As a heavy GK TDA user, I can attest to the fact that all a horde army needs to do to win against GKT is play to the mission. High body count armies are the "I WIN!" button versus low body count armies if they play to the mission. Ignore the mission, loss the game.

You can functionally ignore the TDA units, keeping them stalled in CC by Challenging the ICs, while the rest if your army spreads out and secures the objects. I can't tell you how many times I've lost a game without losing a single model when my 27 TDA face off against 100+ Nids or Orks. Mobile horde will wash away elite armies like the green tide they are.

On the flip-side, if I play to the mission and my opponent doesn't, I'll turn that loss into a draw, or a draw into a win.

Honestly i've done this match up and GK are an easy one, stay away from purifiers as they will murder your boyz, but mega nobz or no mega nobz you should easily take him down, especially with hidden PK

Shooting is the best bet, Coteaz and a Inq, can make the Terms a very nast force to reckon with. Overwatch can be as bad as shooting and with Psybolt ammo they will mow through your boyz quickly.

If the only objective is to kill, then I think you are doing everything right, it just so happens that your dice are not in your favor.

Like what the majority has stated, as long as you stay out of CC and bombard them with shots, 2+ armor save is good, but you can't save all 50 shots.

Some games, the dice are just against you. Nothing to be done about that, except to play more games! I was playing against a deathwing list, I didn't get a single wound from 72 melee attacks, he strikes back against my meganobz with his captain and I roll 3 1's to save against 4 attacks. It happens.

I'd be a little wary of MANz against terminators, if they have a power fist or hammer, a Str 8 wound instakills you, making them more efficient at killing you than you are at killing them.

Remember to issue challenges. A warboss calling out some marine with a power weapon will keep you opponent from picking ideal targets, while you squish him.
