I've decided for the new year that I am going to start a project. My Tau are my baby, but as I am terrible at painting and doing conversions I probably won't show that ever until i strip it and repaint it all.
Now, as for my project I will be doing a full 2000 pt Typhus horde army. As being new to 6th ed CSM I want to only buy the figures and at a slower rate so I don't get overwhelmed with figs to paint and convert. I will take all C&C to go with this list and with help building it.
Keeping a theme, and not mixing it up, I want to keep a strictly Nurgle theme and keep it dirty.

First a couple of questions:

1. With the new Escalation book, we can take super heavies in regular armies. Does this mean I can use a Plaguereaver and if so, can someone just tell me where to find stats/point value of the tank? I really want to do a baneblade conversion myself instead of a kit.

2. I've read all over on what kind of zombies I can use besides just cultist (even opinions here on dakka). What are some personal opinions on cost effective models, including ones you have to put the 40k bases to make them as tall as cultists?

So my list I want to include a couple of things, competitive or not, but taking advice on better use of points with a CSM army since I only came into the codex this past week.

- Typhus (a must have for zombies)
- Plaguereaver (The 2nd reason I want to make this army)
- 1-2 Helldrakes (any Nurgle conversions that people can point me to for these, I have no ideas on how to keep them badass looking, but grotesque like the plaguereaver)
- 200ish zombies (as close to 200 as I can get)
- Plague Marines (to ride with Typhus in the plaguereaver)
- and chaos bikers (to move much faster than the zombies)
- Maybe a greater demon of Nurgle as well (as the 2nd HQ spot)

This is about as far as I got in the design of the army with my very limited knowledge of CSM and the fact no one really plays CSM or baneblades at all at my LGS.
Thanks in advance, and I promise to do a log to keep people updated on the project after the new year starts!

An easy and cheap way used to be vampire zombies kitbashed with cadians for plague zombies. But guard only come in 10's now. You might be able to pick some up off eBay cheap enough though.

For escalation the only CSM super heavy currently available is the Khorne Lord of Skulls.

Hey there...

I play Nurgle themed CSM.

Zombies are okay... their biggest problem, imo, is that they're slooooow. Either keep them in 10 man squads for objective camping / meat shield. Or go large unit (x30 zombies) to deliver a baddy, like Typhus.

Tips for painting the Hellturkey. Don't assemble the model first. Paint the pieces individually... you'll thank me.

Consider the Zombies from Mantic.

Consider adding Huron to your army in this list... his ability to re-deploy some units is almost imperative to minimize the distance between your zombie hoard to the nearest enemy unit.

In a slow list like this, you really need something fast to keep your opponent occupy. Think about getting 5x Nurgle Spawns... they're a great distractors.

Ohh the trait that lets you infiltrate dudes? Would choosing a generic sorcerer as my warlord trying to get the trait work just as well?
