I just played a 1999+1 game against Tau with 4 riptides. I've been through the Tau codex plenty of times but never got my hands on Enclave to have a look. I juat wanna know if this is legal? Is it a piece of wargear or something?

Thanks
Matt

P.s I got my arse handed to me. If anyone wanted to know lol

If they brought farsight and a unit of at least 3 crisis suites then yes it is legal.

Make sure that their obligatory buffmander is in the other detachment though.

I don't think he ran a farsight. So thats what makes it legal?

Thanks again

Well the HQ riptide is part of farsight's command team which replaces farsight's crisis suit bodyguard. Tell him to check the updated version or the FAQ, the rule wasn't clear at release but has been updated since.

Farsight Enclaves is an alternate Tau list that can ally with the main book.

So he could take three out of his elites in the primary detachment and one in his allied detachment elite slot.

So could you theoretically fit five in a single list? 3 elites in the primary detachment, one HQ in the secondary, one elite in the secondary?

Theoretically you could have 6;
Primary - Codex: Tau (3 Elites)
Ally - FARSIGHT ENCLAVES (1 Elite + O'Vessa [HQ])
DATASLATE: TAU FIREBLADE SUPPORT CADRE (1 Riptide + 6 Broadside battlesuits)

Not a very good list though.

Farsight has to be in the Primary Detachment (FE) and has to be the Warlord to unlock any of "The Eight" and Tau Empire has to be the secondary. You don't have to take a Support commander in the allied detachment but it makes the O'vesa star nasty.
