Has anyone tested using agrellan earth directly on a model, rather than the base? I'm planning a sort of lava, obsidian effect for the model ltself, and wanted to see how well agrellan earth would work. I'm worried the thickness necessary to create deep enough cracks would obscure the model's details.

you should get a spare piece of plastic and test it thoroughly first.

it sounds like kind of a weird idea. tons of experimenting probably necessary. good luck.

edit: didnt realize this was the crackle paint. look into other crackle mediums.

i def would not go with that GW crap. Kroma crackle i hear is very very good. pricey though. you can also tint it whatever colour you want.

There was supposedly a defective (i.e. non-crackling) batch of Agrellan Earth, so yeah, definitely try it on a test piece first. Getting the thickness right may require some experimentation too.

I too have been considering it for use on models - hopefully it's a great way to get a crusty dried mud effect on mudguards and wheel wells. Hmm, maybe on my stompa's feet too.
