For 25pnts, Icon of Vengeance seems to be a bargain for getting Fearless on the entire squad. My question is however: how big does the squad need to be in order to make the most out of it? 20-man squad is the obvious answer but running 1 unit of 20 Marines is an overkill. They only count of 1 Troop Choice and can only hold 1 Objective. On the contrary, 10-man Squad seems to be a bit of a waste but that may be my opinion. Any thoughts?

I'd rather take votlw. Not fearless, but it does give +1 leadership, hatred: sm, and is only 1pt per model. If I want fearless I'd go for a cult troop.

I take them on big blobs, yeah a little overkill but it soaks up fire like a boss ensuring someone survives to get you VPs. Works better if you move upfield with them rather than squander their numbers holding your own objectives. Veterans is all well and good but not everyone you play against will bring SM, and in a 20 man unit is still costing you 20pts.
@ 10 CSM, I'd be less likely to take one as the price/benefit ratio starts withering away, below 10 models never, although I never take <10 so it's rather moot.

Exactly what I was thinking. VotLW is cheap and all but if you are against thats not Marines, its sort of wasted.
