As a plan for a Christmas related thingey, I'm looking to make action figures of friends of mine for fun gifts, if I can. There's two ways I can see this being doable, but I thought I'd ask for advice.
Way one: Find generic action figures with simular builds to to the people I'm looking for, and repaint them. This is certainly the easier choice, and I can probably do it on my own.
However, option two is the one I'd prefer to do. Is there some kind of custom 3d-printing website where I could order pre-designed options? Preferably with generic templates to base the designs off of, but if that's not a thing than oh well.
Any ideas where to go?

Not cheap by any sense of the word, but they will do you custom action figures based off photos.

Edit: that was the first hit on google - I am sure there are others which could be better/cheaper.

Try looking on figurerealm.com. There's some amazing custom action figures on there, along with advice on creating your own.
