Hello everyone!

It seems like I may be stuck with a bunch of CSMs and I was wondering how hard it would be to convert them back to the emprahs light? Has anyone done this before? If so do you have any tips?

Depends on wich models you posseses, and also in what kind of Chapter you want to turn them into.

if you want to make a type of Chapter that fights alot in or next the Eye of Terror or the Mealstrom, than you can always say that they use armors pieces and wargear for temporary repairs, like SW 13th Co or Relictors did.

Now the most Chaosy thing about CSM models are all the arrows and stars, you can rework the arrows/stars to be just lines, a bit like they where reinforced spaces on the armors.

For the backpacks, just cut the arms between the pack and the vents, and glue the vents back on directly, that should do the trick.

Also try to get genuine SM bits, heads and shoulders primarly, that you can mix/match to smooth things out.

or simply find a guy that will be willing to exchange those CSM with SM bits.

I do have some SM bits kicking around!

I should probably just get to work on this idea right now, lol...

Pretty much you'll need a fresh x acto blade and/or dremmel and/or files.
I use files and a knife to carve and sculpt at my regular marines.
Pretty much go with what Slayer said. Any mistakes too serious to be covered up could easily be repaired with some GS.
You'll have your work cut out for you but hopefully the result will be some truely unique looking space marines.

It would be great if you could upload some pictures of your progress or even just the final product providing you're satisfied with it

Good luck
Peace

Backpacks, heads and shoulder pads swapped for loyalist versions. These all tend to be fairly common spare bits.

If you're making Tac marines you could make the arrows Tac symbols, that's what I did for mine.

If you have the new plastic type chaos marines
Remove the spikes and chaosy bits obviously

add on C:sm pouches, scrolls, grenades

green stuff some litany on the shoulder pads and add additional purity seals

give em some of those heretic plasma pistols, rifles, and the heavy bolter as they look ballin after the heretic stuff has been scraped off.

back pack and head swap.

now you should have some cool lookin veteran models.

Edit: man i wanna give this a shot actually.

I convert all of my Alpha Legionnaires to look less Chaos (although I mostly use Loyalist kits and remove the icons). As others have said; remove the spikes and stars, add purity seals and scrolls and the like. Also, cut off the backpack extension things and glue the ball... things on.

You don't have to remove the backpack extensions in Betrayal says that those types of backpack are just an adaption of the originals so it's plausible that loyalists may have them as well.
