So I recently picked up the Warlords of the Dark Milenium book, and GW have snuck In a huge points drop from 225 to 165!

What if any different will this make?

The Warlords Series has rules? That's odd, I thought it was just fluff.

They included the rules from the Codex (or so I thought) as I have Abaddon and Fabius but I didn't notice any difference in the rules... well now I'll need to check again

Same but it has all his rules in there, everything is the same as the codex, except that huge points drop.

Might be a typo. I didn't see anything in the FAQ about that.

Seems legit ....

If this is an update, wouldn't it be updated in the digital BA codex (I'm not sure how that works; are updates automatic, or do you download the latest version?) or updated in the FAQ? It doesn't seem consistent.

Welcome to the world of DLC.

I think the ebooks need to be manually updated.

I'm not sure even GW would be this disorganized though. It doesn't make sense to have two different versions of a rule split across different sources. :/

Isn't Black Library separate from whoever makes the rules?

Not really when you consider all that has come out his month rules wise from Black Library, and with stuff like the new Nid codex being written by the Design team.

Not really. I think Black Library just released the digital editions of Escalation and Stronghold assault, I don't think they wrote it. Those are on the GW site. Warlords isn't.

So to confuse matters further Abaddon's Warlords ebook doesn't appear to have his points costs at all and Fabius does but is missing the Enhanced Warriors rule. So if they're going to start updating using these they'll really want to do a pass to get them consistent.

However they may be reflecting a future FAQ update we're not aware of

Well obviously Abaddon is free.

Yeah, I don't think this series is a reliable source of rules. They shouldn't even bother with rules, imo. Just stick to the fluff.

On a second pass of Dante's rules the have missed out his Tactical Precision and Surgical strike Special rules.

Sorry I should clarify, Dante's is reflecting a future FAQ update. Abaddon going for free, while I wouldn't say no may be somewhat unbalanced in the scheme of things

Yeah the rules for all his war gear are listed in there own entries, I'd post screen shots of the whole lot but not sure how far that will push the rules?

This is beyond dumb if they can't keep their rules straight but are selling them anyway.

Your caution and discretion are greatly appreciated.

After reviewing all the information presented here - the points drop, the lack of consistency between the contents of the data-slates, the feeling that the rules are being sold without a ton of communication between GW and Black Library, etc.. - the only thing I find surprising is that someone purchased the Dante and/or Champions of Chaos download.

In an effort to add something other than a snarky comment...I think the points drop would be great for Dante, and brings him more in line with similarly powered HQs.

I even bought the Astorath short story, and I loved it all glorious 4 pages of it.

Yes, that's the rules for his Death Mask of Sanguinus, which are in the WotDM book.

yes

I hope they can get their act together, i want to see a point drop for dante but i cant trust their magnificent scheme of releasing half of the rules in little pamphlets that still cost more than they are worth

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

I actually really enjoyed it, and I'm glad I spent the money on it. It added some extra detail to Dante's background which was nice to read.

My favourite part was this, about when he took up the mantle of Chapter Master...

'Not because he was the best or brightest, but purely because he was the last man standing'

This guy needs to be given Eternal Warrior next edition!

Lol, if he did he get a points drop he'd be the best BA SC. He's still pretty bad though.

Yes, Eddie, the Iron Maiden mascot spends his winter break running the Games Workshop Digital Editions Facebook page.
