He is pretty good at answering the questions, and is as close to an offical voice you can reliable get hold of.

Hang on... I would LOVE to field Dante at 165pts. But compared to a normal chap master without upgrades, he loses only orbital strike, chapter tactics and the ability to take equipment of choice. But gains 1.) Tactical precision 2.) Surgical strike 3.) Ability to take sanguinary guard as troops 4.) Death mask of sanguinius 5.) Infernus pistol 6.) Artificier armour 7.)) Axe of mortalis 8.) Jump pack 9.) Descent of angels. All for just 35pts... is this reliable at all? If so - count me in!

Look again at the first page. He doesn't have the Death Mask nor the Axe. Which is why I think BL done goofed with this.

The OP said he hadn't posted the whole set of rules. So does he or doesnt he? And does he still allow guard as troops? Im confused!

He doesn't. His wargear is listed on the first page. The Axe and the Mask isn't listed.

And there have been a few too many of these recently with the digital releases.

Can this dataslate be used to just replace the codex one? If so isn't this pay to FAQ now? I don't understand the discrepancies between both versions of the character, or why he is cheaper in one version. As a player of BA what I am supposed to do with this infomation?

Ignore it, It's an error. He's missing some of his gear.

He's still hitting at I1 though. But I am looking forward to seeing how this digital issue is resolved.

Since RAW wise this is two totally different characters with the same name then, doesn't that mean we can take both? If he is missing tactical precision, surgical strike, death mask of sanguinius, axe of mortalis and the ability to take sang guard as troops he IS a different dante within the same edition... RAW wise.
P.s. I'm fully aware this is a ridiculous question. I'm just highlighting the utter stupidity.

I think this is BL's idea of a practical joke. I mean, the quality is so shoddy it has to be on purpose.

The guys writing this were probably thinking.

"Oh, let's change the rules for the special characters in our Warlords series, and see if anyone actually tries to use them!"

If so, I salute them. This was a worthy attempt at trolling your own customers.

Dante's stuff is surely in a section named "artifacts" or sth, that would explain why this picutre doesn't have death mask.

They updated the .epub. From my initial skim, it is like the codex version. 225 points, Tactical Precision, Surgical Strike.

How do they update the .epubs anyway? Do you have to download again?

He's still missing his Axe Mortalis in the wargear even though they speak of it later on.

Yes, I believe so. They upload a newer version of the book. The iPad versions should get the updates pushed to them automatically.

Ok to clear some stuff up that has happened since I've been away, his Axe is still in there, and still has the same rules. And his death mask is still in there. What it seems to be to me is they have put all his rules in there and the rules for his war gear. The only rules they have left out are the Tactical precision and .surgical strike rules as these are rules which were described in his bestiary entry in the codex.

Ok so they have now added Tactical Prcision and Surgical strike to the book, and put his points back to 225. It was nice why it lasted :(

Here's what I asked GW Digital yesterday:

Evening GW Digital, quick question regarding the Dante release for today.

Apparently I am told it contains rules which are different to the Book/Digital codex. Do these 'rules' override the codex or are they just there by 'mistake'?

This is their response:

Our bad, a couple of Dante's rules were just missed. His rules haven't changed at all from his Codex incarnation.

It's a short story primarily, with his rules attached.
