Hi dakka friends

I have been playing my GK for the past year and wanted to change a bit so it is time to take my orks out of the closet (no pun...)
However as i have not played them for quite a few years (6-7 at least), i only know what i read on the net about them.
My other issue is that while i have quite a lot of them, i do not have the most competitive models.
I have:
- around 100 orks on foot, both shootas and sluggas
- 4 bikes
- 7 deathkoptas
- 6 kans
- 3 lobbas/zap
- 1 truk only
- 1 buggy
- 2 Warbosses on foot
- 1 Mek
and i think that is about it
So i do not have either wagons, jets or lootas unfortunately.
Thus i am quite at a loss which way to go.

I am going to play this weekend at 1500 or 2000pts so need some advice.

I thought i would take the bikes as nobs bikers with maybe a boss on a bike, 3 squadrons of deathkoptas as FA, lobbas with additional grots and 2 squadrons of kans as HS and loads of boys on foot with maybe a Mek with force shield.

I am likely to face tyranids or deamons but we agreed not to have too powerfull lists (as i wont be much of a challenge with the models i have anyway)
In terms of equipment for the boys should i go with nobs and PK and as many big shootas as possible or take some rockets?
Is a nob unit in my single truck worth it? (not meganobz)

Trim enough Koptas for Big Gun crew, 6th edition kind of screwed over Koptas since the mainly shine as outflanking tank killers. Definitely take the Big Mek with KFF if you plan to footslog, if you are savvy with converting or your local group is okay with proxy, convert a nob biker into a painboy the benefit of them gaining both a 5++ and FNP is amazing.

Yeah i will try to get a nice biker nob with all stuff.
However i have only 4 bikes so if i want a boss on bike that means only 3 nobz... so would a painboy be worth it then?

I will take crew for the big guns, that is not an issue i think, the koptas i know are not the best but i do not have much else in FA (one buggy... one truck and the bikernobz if i dont take a biker boss...)

Not the most competitive models!? Those 100 Boyz say otherwise!

Koptas can still do work, they aren't a bad choice. Just not the best.

Were you facing vehicles, I would recommend cannons as you big gun, but against nids or demons it's not much of an issue.

Good luck! Glad you finally came out of the closet as an Ork player!

Thanks for the feedback.
So just loads and loads of orks on foot is still efficient?
I guess with a pole and PK on the nob right and some big shootas?

I just drown him in boys with their shooting and if i manage to get to CC, all the better?

Yep, hard to go hard with footslog as long as you remember cover is king. When you get a decent biker mob going(at least 5) have them focusing anything that can throw pie plates onto the foot slog, especially anything that ignores cover.

What ever you run your artillery as, prioritize them against what they can kill best. Remember, unless you are an ordnance gun never focus AV14 with your artillery(I.E. Big Meks with SAG Looted Boomwagons can pen it easily but Kannons would have a hard time so have them either firing Frag at his units or picking off anything AV12 or worse.

Thanks
Actually i made some purchases yesterday so changed my list a bit.
The game will be 2250 pts.

I will take :
HQ :
- Warboss, bike, PK, pole

Elites :
- 10 lootas (will convert them from boys and will use IG and SM heavy weapons that i will try to make it orkish)
- 10 lootas (same)

Troops :
- 5 bikernobz, painboy, 2 PK
- 20 boys, 3 bigshootas, Nob with pole and PK
- 20 boys, 3 bigshootas, Nob with pole and PK
- 20 boys, 3 bigshootas, Nob with pole and PK

Fast Attack :
- 3 Kopters, 1 PK
- 2 Kopters, 1 PK
- 2 Kopters, 1 PK

Heavy Support : (using double FOC)
- Battlewagon, 4 bigshootas, the item for the D6 S10 hits (dont know english name sorry^^)
- Battlewagon (same)
- 3 Kans (bazoogrot)
- 2 Kans (bazoogrot)
- 3 lobbas

Anything to change in terms of missing equipment or anything (or like add 20 boys instead of some Kans)

Might think about how to squeeze some grots in there. Hook them up with the SAG Mek for LOS. That way, you won't have to join the lootas (and thus, have to fire at same target as them.)

Pretty sure you can't take 3 big shootas in a unit of only 20 Orks.

Ah crap forgot about that.
Then that will make some more grots
but then the lobbas and SAG have to fire at the same unit right?

If they're in the same unit, yes.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
The game went pretty smoothly.
The firepower of the BW with 20shootaboys is pretty impressive
at the end he only had a remaining tervigon (his warlord) in his backfield.

I lost however my 2 Warbosses on bikes without them hitting once (one took a flyrant in the face, the other was killed by 4 raveners....)
But the dreads were amasing as well as the killa kans (who took out almost 20 stealers in shooting on first turn)

The lootas were not so great but then they were my only foot units so were focused by almost every shooting attack he had
