In the Trenchs

Brace yourselves here comes the badly written first draft fluff. WARNING: half of this will be improvised on the spot.

(clears throat) following the drop site massacre, some of the battered and beaten Iron hands survivors, made their way to Medusa to lick their wounds. Though they expected to be supported and revitalised, they were ousted and ostracised by their brothers who believed that it was their failure and cowardice that had caused Ferrus Manus' death. Unable to bare their shame, the veterans banded together and left Medusa, vowing to make right their sins and avenge their fallen brothers, in an eternal crusade of vengeance. This group took a new coat of arms, the spread gauntlet of the iron hands, dipped in the blood of the fallen. (iron hands symbol in red) It is now the 41st Millennium, and the group continues their crusade, killing the enemies of mankind where ever they can find them. In the long period since the heresy the group has increased in number to a full 12 companies.

Tell me what you think.

Possible names:

Exodites
Iron Templars
The Blooded

Please feel free to suggest any other names you think would be better.

Personally I'd go with your original suggestion of the Blooded.
Simple and seems to speak of betrayal and shame and all that.
That'd be my choice

Agree with this 100%. The Blooded stood out from the beginning as a winner in my eyes.

Avoid Exodites; it's too closely associated with Eldar already. Avoid Templars; people will assume you are related to the Black Templars (or th eImperial Fists).

I kinda like the Blooded, as several have already said.

I don't know if this helps but I've always thought a good Chapter name needs to work in the singular. For example:

The Ultramarines > An Ultramarine
The Praetors of Orpheus > A Praetor

The problem I have with some chapter names is that they don't translate well into the singular.

The Purge > ???
The Crimson Slaughter > ???

That may just be me though.

The Veterans? Since most of the Veterans were lost on Istvaan this meant they had a low supply of Terminator Armour. This makes me think your chapter decided to make off with all the suits and didn't give any back due to spite.

I would think that because their a chapter composed of survivors they would have come from all of the various clans. They might not organize themselves according to the old clan structure. Also, they might not be as anti flesh as the parent chapter. Fluff wise they might not embrace cybernetics quite as fanatically. Then again maybe more so.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
