Hi Folks

I'm looking at getting an eversor assassin into my DKOK army list and wondered how i go about doing it?

Is there any rumour of a rules release that allows a dingular assassin to be taken in a list on the horizon?

I dont own the GK codex and i have the plan to use it in zone mortalis so would like to know the minimal points i have to spend to allie it in.

thanks in advance

I don't think Mortalis specifies any particular rules against Allies but they have an FOC that doesn't necessarily allow for them.
Otherwise you could just look up the regular ally rules and use those.
At the end of the day you are going to have to get permission from whoever you are playing so if I were you I'd write up two lists. One with the ally contingent in and one without.

Cant remember what eversors are but sniper-themed assasins would fit like a charm into DKoK. WW1 was among the most sniper-heavy conflicts thus it would suit the aesthetics.

Thats the vindicate, the eversore is the "slice ALL the people" assassin.

Yeah, the eversor is also quite fluffy the a siege/trench fighting army, as they are designed to storm bunkers/trenches and just run around causing chaos and death.

I love imperial assassins! My Tau army has a long history of beating them to death in close combat (one of my proudest moments was a single fire warrior beating down the "jump out of your squad and use a flame template on you" one).

Seriously though, I can't imagine you couldn't just use the ally rules. You're already playing a FW army. Anyone who agrees to that shouldn't have too much objection to that. Anyone know if the new inquisition codex has assassins in it? Seems like something they should have.

This comment makes no sense. Using FW is as legal as using any other supplement, but taking an assassin is a matter of whether allies are or are not allowed in Zone Mortalis games.

I guess it really doesn't... I was kind of not paying attention and missed the part about Zone Mortalis (which I will admit to knowing nothing about). I thought the issue was maybe them not having a real slot on the allies matrix since they weren't an army that was included in the chart or something. That's waht I get for writing replies to technical questions using my "posting random junk" frame of mind.

I'm not anti forgeworld at all, just kind of anti-forgeworld prices sometimes.

To take an eversor in the 'legal' way in a 40k game:

Take a GK codex allied detachment.
The eversor is an elites choice for 130pts
If you want a GK squad, take one as troops.
Take an HQ. If you want you can take inquisitor coteaz, this unlocks inquisitorial henchmen as troops, so you can have a much cheaper allied detachment.

So the cheapest way is to take Coteaz (100) the Eversor (130) and a henchmen unit (12) but if you were doing so I would at least build up the henchmen a bit. A squad of 10 with 3 plasma guns is 70pts, a steal.

The thing is, the Inquisition codex has just been released. This has much better rules for incorporating inquisitors if that is what you are interested in - they are battle brothers, so you can make full use of their psychic support and fold them into your guard squads. BUT, for some reason the assassins are not in the inquisition codex. Possibly GW wants to release a digital assassins supplement as well at some point. I would have a word with your opponent. Just ask him if he minds you taking the Eversor as an elites choice, with or without an inquisitorial force. Its not an overpowered unit, so he has nothing to worry about.

Imperial Guard: 4000 pts

Corregidor 700 pts
Acontecimento 400 pts

Easiest way would be to add a simple inquisitor, throw down something like 5 normal GK, and add the eversor in.

i think i'll bide my time until a real rules release comes out as i'm introducing ZM to the club mid january and i'd be a dick if i started it by being a WAAC player.

I think its a money cow that GW will milk soon enough though and i expect it to be a singular attachment to an imperial based list.

i dont understand the anti FW price thing? for a little extra you actually get a better quality miniature - DKOK arent overpowered and just introduce different experiences of game play. I have only won once with them - its just my army look better then the next mans and look far more stylish when they die.

When Forge World started out, they only produced superheavy tanks and special rhino/land raider variants.

Combined with this is the fact that, unlike Games Workshop, Forge World prices haven't increased significantly in the last ten years... so when Forge World was first starting up, there were a lot of knee-jerk "pay to win" and "oh, god, so expensive!" reactions (because at the time, they were stupidly expensive).

Because the internet isn't really capable of changing its opinion quickly in a positive direction (things only get worse), this has only gotten more firmly entrenched in the minds of the anti-FW faction, so even though the FW stuff is no longer significantly more expensive or powerful than the Citadel stuff (because of Games Workshop price rises), people still ask about it on forums and get bombarded with "OMG broken!" and "But it's so expensive!" reactions, perpetuating the idea that Forge World is a super-expensive pay-to-win product.

i was into forgeworld when they first came out but have only really started playing 40k properly recently. They offered greater variety and much better looking models IMO.

Back on to the subject - i may just use an assassin kill team in ZM as part of a 'kill the primarch' mission. Die Horus Die!
