So in the Rulebook FaQ i noticed this.

Page 49

Flying Monstrous Creatures, Swooping.
Add the following bullet point:

Models that physically fit under a Swooping Flying
Monstrous Creature can move beneath it. Likewise, a Swooping
Flying Monstrous Creature can end its move over such models.
However, when moving this way, enemy models must still
remain 1" away from the base of the Swooping Flying
Monstrous Creature, and the Swooping Flying Monstrous
Creature cannot end its move with its base within 1" of other
enemy models.

Now i have to say its pretty darn confusing.

At first i though that if you have say a Winged Prince, you could move, and then has the sentence says end your movement over other models, and it maked sens in a way, because why a creature that is Flying would care of what is under it?

And that then the opponent moved the models in the way(not the whole unit) and you would place the base of your FMC and then the models would be in contact with the base or something, and that in his next movement phase, the opponent models would have to move a minimum dinstance of 1" from the base.

But then the next sentence says that the FMC base must be at more then 1" of the other models...

So two possibilities here, 1) this Errata is freaking pointless and confusing, because in says one thing and then it says the contrary in the same phrase.
2) And this is how i understand it, while the FMC can end his movement over the unit for sakes of measurements, you actually put the base of the model like with the normal rules of 1" away, and thus it is a bit like the Wobbly models/terrain rule, if you can't place it in a way that the model is stable, you place it close and put a marker or something for his real placement on the table.

Is this correct, or i'm completly blind to something here?

Thanks.

The FMC model can be over an enemy (such as its wings) but not its base

Okay but why make an Errata for that, when this case exist since the very first days of 40k, with models that are larger then its base, like dragons and stuff, and that no one has ever said" hey your wing from your Deamon prince can't be over my models you have to move it".

The rules says that a models base can't be under 1" from another models base, its pretty clear, so why doing an errata for that?

I know GW and clear FaQs/erratas is something like a fantasy, but still, its like making a second Errata/rule for something that is allready clearly covered in the book.

Yeah I think this is one of those rare occasions where gw wanted to make sure a rule could be actually understood. I wouldn't read into it lol

The New Nid FMCs. And Permissive ruleset.

They are much Larger than their Bases.

The Same wording also exists for Flyers, which again is technially unneccessary, but their to permit you to do so in a Permissive ruleset.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I beleive N°2 is correct, and you are right, they added this in the FAQ to make FMC follow Flyer rules about being "Suspended above the Battlefield" as is said in the BRB and being above other units.

Here's the list of rules about "Sharing a position":

BRB FAQ Q: Can models move through other friendly models? (p10) A: No. Models that are an exception to this rule, such as Jump Infantry or Jetbikes, will state this clearly in their rules.

Then, on P47: Jump Units: "Jump models cannot end their move on top of other models (...)"

Then, on P83: Skimmers: " (...)can move over friendly models and enemies, but they cannot end their move on top of either."

BUT Flyers, P80: Models that physically fit under a flyer MODEL can move beneath it. Likewise, a flyer can end IT'S move OVER such models.

It's really a bit of an obvious choice for most words.

The only restriction, also in the rules, is that enemy models may not be within 1"
