Morbid as it may be, half of my next project involving Imperial Guard is an idea I laughed at when one of my friends said I should do it years ago; I'm going to make an entire Guard army of casualties, fatally wounded, desperate, and otherwise doomed Guardsmen. This is partially as a joke and partially a serious part of my larger IG project which I will work on later. And a chance to get some use out of the Army Painter gore paints I just got

For now, I sit here brainstorming ideas on how to model all the Guardsmen as they are being ripped apart as a whole. With me being me, I want no repeats; every model will be completely uniquely modeled. What I'd like from you lot is to get some suggestions on how you'd like to see some Guardsmen killed, and if it's awesome or lolzy enough I'd love to implement it into my army!

UPDATE: I uploaded a word document below that details what ideas I have thought of or shamelessly ripped from you lot to use in my army. Feel free to keep throwing out ideas, I'll keep updating the list as I get more!

UPDATED UPDATE: I got a bunch of Cadian bits. LET THE SLAUGHTER BEGIN!

Here's a few examples I've come up with:

1. Heavy weapons team with the gunner still firing but the loader slumped over the barrel or the ammo. Additionally, instead of sandbags? Guardsmen. Yeah. Piles of dead Guard bodies instead of sandbags

2. Company Commander laying on his back hiding under a dead body playing dead

3. "Halved" Guardsman (must have gotten hit by an artillery shell) split on two bases; ripped up pair of legs on one base, bloody torso (hollowed out with GS applied to make limp bloody clothing) on the second base.

4. Charging Guardsman with a hole through his neck from a sniper round with a massive GS blood splatter appropriately placed on either side

5. Commissar simultaneously executing a Guardsman and committing shooting himself in the head. Probably on a 60 mm base.

6. Guardsman on all fours coughing up a few pints of blood.

At any rate, I eagerly await the hilarious, twisted, and badass ways you all can come up with to see a Guardsman meet his death. Hit me!

.......o yea, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!!!!

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Excellent. I approve.
I've been wanting to make a squad of wounded soldiers for my own guard army.

Firstly, I'd see about getting one of the wounded guardsmen that came in the old command squad.
Secondly, The two current command squads both have a host of bitz that would be useful. There's a bandaged arm holding a helmet, scarred up heads, a head with an eye patch, an arm in a sling.

And here's a few pictures from the dakka gallery that may help you to glory.
Spoiler:

Good luck.

You know, I seem to recall my father warning me when I first started modelling to be careful in selecting my paints and glues because he'd seen dudes trying to apply a good sealant or something to things like plastic lawn furniture and whatnot, only to have it practically melt away.

Any idea where I could find some of that kind of stuff? Are there any paints, varnishes, or other spray-on chemicals that are generally understood as no-no's by the modelling community? That could make some good plasma/'Nid acid/melta burns.

The very early Imperial Guard/ Army had some wounded troopers that can be found on Ebay still. Mostly they are pretty much dead/ casulaties, but Trooper Dick below may be of use, and I think Trooper Bush's arm is bandaged.

Well also, what bands were they listening to?

The second pic has troopers Calvert, Brock, Langton, Bainbridge (Hawkwind), Emerson, Lake, Palmer (I hope that's obvious), Lee, Peart and Lifeson (Rush) and I'm sure there's others

and Laurel & Hardy

Fun idea, personality to each model?
.
Medic pack = Medic in each unit
.
IV's hanging; being held, on rolling poles.
.
Wheelchairs, crutches, peg legs, missing limbs, eye-patches,
.
Google; Hoffman Device and Halo Brace
.
One Ogre on 60mm base as heavy weapon team, many scratch built from fantasy ogres out there, and will free up more guardsmen models...
.
Stretcher bearers, keep unit coherency, lol...
.
Vehicles; Ambulance Chimera, cut off top to look open like a pick-up truck, pile in dead, additionally, bunk-bed stretchers in back; Google; Jeep military ambulance; http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/j7S7C1C70pQ41Z9tAaIYRw
.
FUN!!!

I thought Eldar Shurikens were supposed to be monofilament, or otherwise made to be something like only 1 molecule thick? If so, would they be visible? Isn't the premise of the new "bladestorm" rule (or whatever it is called) based on the idea that they are firing super-thin projectiles that slice straight through the target?

I'm genuinely curious, I've also never seen models made for Eldar Shuriken ammo or anything like that.

I am having a hilarious image of a Guardsman being sliced into three pieces at the same time and having his body being wrenched different ways to the point that I could move the center section out to one side like you see in a lot of anime samurai cleavings

Hehe I just gained about 5 respect points for GW... Then lost 10 when I realized they drop that act and now it's all GRIMDARK.

At any rate, I think I'll nick the naming process. Loving the idea of band member names! Man that brings me back to a few years ago when my high school director decided the band/drum corp would be doing Karn Evil 9 (First Impressions) and Tom Sawyer... And the drum kit was my throne for both

This is definitely happening. The real trick is going to be making "flying" debris in general. It would also work good with a heavy weapons team, I imagine!

This looks a great ideia. For ideias? Dont forget about the burned bodies (booth on flames and alredy burned out), the clean looking guardsman wounded/killed by lascannons, and the sweet guardsman who wounded itself with a mistimed grenade. Also, any plasma guy would look cool with its gun exploded, and some serious head/torso damage on that

How 'bout a Guardsman sitting down ... looking at his stumps of legs ... with the feet on the edge of the base?

Or, one Guardsman giving another a fireman's carry?

A Guardsman holding his severed arm in his other hand with a look of wonder...

Two or three Guardsmen killed by concussion - pale faces, trickles of blood from ears, nose and mouth ...

How about a Guardsman face down in a puddle of mud, or dead while trying to drag themselves from same ...

You'll get quite a lot of inspiration from films such as Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down - a lot of amputee stuntmen worked on the initial beach landing scene in SPR, to replicate the effects of shell and splinter injuries.

You could try to model a large blast, throwing guardsmen in every direction. Central explosion, flying guardsmen and bits thereoff on either those clear pins for jump infantry and similar or just thin but stable wire maybe.

Honestly, this idea is both nuts and awesome. Totally want to see what happens here.

Well then! Looks like I'm going to have to make a Father Mulcahy mini administering last rites, doesn't it? And while I'm at it, maybe I can make Radar and use him as the Astropath

You'll get your pics when I get my bits, man! I haven't gotten any new minis since all my minis, bits and tools got stolen a month back. But, as of yesterday thanks to a sympathetic family member, my tools are replenished and I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of about 30 or 40 Guardsmen in bits form from ebay. Once I get them it'll be time to hack and slash all these guys out, but for now I just wanted to see what you lot could come up with so I can hit the ground running!

On that topic, for my memory's benefit as well as your interest and amusement, I'm going to attach a word document to this post and the first post with all the ideas that I have collected or come up with on my own that I will definitely be implementing into MY army. Doesn't mean you can't take an idea or two though

I like the idea of a commissar standing on a pile of dead guardsmen all with headshots. Intimidation factor ++ and lets face it, a Commissar is more likely to plug any remaining guardsmen before opting out in the most heroic way possible.
Anything less is just....
