I must have taken a wrong turn at the forums as I have never been here before...
Anyways, I try to avoid looking at any new miniature games because I tend to jump in rather than think things through. Long story short, I have a whole lot of Nomads coming in the mail and have no clue how the game works (I understand the general gameplay).
The whole point of this thread really is to just ask the question: Can I play any of the models from the Nomad faction together? In other words, is there a model/group that cannot play with other models/groups in the nomad faction? To be honest I just bought all the models I really liked and worst case I just have a lot of cool models and a crappy army that I can't use.
I am actually moving away from the whole 40k scene as I am just tired of it and the infinity models are out of this world cool. Plus the game looks like a ton of fun.

Some of the sectorials (sub armies, sort of like the Imperial Fists expansion is for Space Marines in 40k...sort of) have access to mercenaries that the main factions do not have, or vice versa, but apart from that the only limitations exist in the sectorials, not in the main factions. So nomads can take moderators and alguiciles (probably spelt it wrong), but their bakunin sectorial can only take moderators, not alguiciles. Does that make sense? Basically, can you use any of the nomad models while using the vanilla faction? Pretty much yes. Using the sectorials? No

I think the only other thing to really watch out for is the AVA of the models.
e.g. Securitate are AVA 4, which means you cannot have more than 4 in a given force.
Best place to find out how many you can take is here:

Oh awesome! Yeah that makes sense, if I have this correctly If I run it as a vanilla nomad I can just add whatever I choose but If I say I am going to run a sectorial list I would obviously have to stick with a certain group.
That is very helpful! I had no idea they had an army builder which appears to be freaking awesome.
Thanks for you help, it is much appreciated.

Corregidor Jurisdictional Command Sectorial Starter Pack <-- Corregidor (obviously tho, right?)
Reverend Custodiers (Hacker, Combi Rfl + Marker) <-- Bakunin
Reverend Custodiers (Boarding Shotgun) <-- Bakunin
Prowlers (Spitfire) <-- Bakunin
Wildcats, Multipurpose Tactical Unit (Spitfire) <-- Corregidor
Sin-Eater Observants (Multi Sniper Rfl) <-- Bakunin
Sin-Eater Observants (HMG) <-- Bakunin
Tomcats (Engineer) <-- Corregidor
Vortex Spec-Ops <-- All
Zero (Hacker) <-- Bakunin
Tomcats (Combi Rfl + Lt FT, D.E.P) <-- Corregidor
Prowlers (ADHL, Combi Rfl + Lt FT) <-- Bakunin
Spektrs (Hacker) <-- Tunguska
Spektrs (Sniper) <-- Tunguska
Lizard Unit Box (Multi HMG) <-- Bakunin
Tsyklon Sputniks Unit Box (2) <-- All
Tunguska, the 3rd faction of the Nomads does not have a full Sectorial yet but people are hoping the next book will have it. Regardless you have plenty of awesome pieces, likely enough to try out either Sectorial or just sticking with Vanilla
One way to quickly tell what Sectorial each unit belongs to, is by looking at their ID Circle
Corregidor units use mostly Orange with a bit of White and Black
Bakunin units use mostly White with a bit of Orange
Tunguska units use mostly Black with a bit of White and Orange
Corregidor units tend to have simpler special rules and more basic equipment, but great stat lines and lots of flamethrowers. Often seen as the strong arm or the SWAT team of the Nomads
Bakunin units tend to have lots of weird or special rules and gameplay styles with middling stats. They are often what gives Nomads the "Dirty" fighting Styles
Tunguska units tend to have really good weapons and equipment, with fairly average stat lines but insane Willpower. The best money can buy in equipment! but they also don't have as many units as the other 2 yet

...I proxy both the doc and engineer models for PanO - they're horrible as well. Still, the in-game functions are pretty useful (and you certainly want the bots!). I'd view it as a necessary evil required to field the models you *do* like if I were you (that, or find cool proxies! The kind of player who objects to that has a humongous stick up his ass and isn't someone you want to play anyway, trust me ).
I would *always* advise a support pack as the first purchase after a starter box for beginning players; DOC/ENG's aren't glamorous or 'cool' and the little bots often get overlooked, too, so people would otherwise put off buying those models for way too long.
Not having a hammer and a wrench in your toolbox isn't an issue as long as you're just in need of a screwdriver but that doesn't make your toolbox any less incomplete without them

I'm trying to put together a list, and I think I've just been spoiled by Ariadna, but when I just want some really cheap cheerleaders Nomads doesn't seem to have them (at least not in the abundance that Ariadna does).

Alguacil and Moderator are the cheerleaders, but he didn't purchase them
I would suggest making a no cheerleader list instead, using Wildcats
200 Pt Correigdor
JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF CORREGIDOR

GROUP 1 8 0 0
INTRUDER (Lieutenant) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. ( 36)

You will need to say that the Wildcats are actually Moderators, but other than that its pretty playable. This list tho is insanely strong but insanely difficult to use properly so it might not but be very beginner friendly

I haven't actually gotten to play, but I think the most obvious cheerleaders are moderators, auglaciles (or however you spell it), and some of the robots. A couple of the Salyut zonds are pretty cheap, and the uhh.. Transductor/ducer or something zond is pretty low too.
I was going to make a thread like this to see what people thought I could do list-wise with a bunch of Bakunin stuff I just got over the holidays, but seems silly to make such a similar thread. I'll see if I can glean some gems out of responses here

Nomad specialty is its powerful Medium infantry, We are not PanO or Aleph that thrives on its Heavy
Even our Heavies are fairly cheap and look at the Gecko Tag for a mere 50
Even Chimaera itself is a powerful middle class infantry
Also, you don't have many models. It makes it fairly difficult to produce a variety of list options unless you proxy.
but here is a Bakunin 200pts

Thanks Talamare for the lists you made up. They sound very interesting and I will be playing around with them as I go along. I will probably just start of with simple 100/150pt games using the Corregidor starter to get me into the game then expand from there.
So I got the first half of my shipment of Nomads and got them all built except I need to wait a bit to glue my Hellcat's arm on as it is a very fiddly model and need to make sure the glue is 100% dry. I must say these are some of the best models with so much detail. Even though they are so small, it took a lot of patience to drill into the feet without going out the side of the leg. But they are pinned and ready to get primed.
The pics are bad but there isn't much to see at this point. I forgot to mention I picked up a Senor Massacre as well, mainly because he is one of my favorite models ever. I am just blocking out the reds on him now and maybe paint him up deadpool style
Anyways, thanks again for this help it is very much appreciated.

I think you are a Moderator short for this one, Just proxy one of whatever is left over
Lunokhod can easily be the Vertigo
This is a Guided Missile Launcher ( GML) List, which is extremely powerful and difficult to counter. Especially for other newbies (and even some vets find themselves caught unable to counter it at times)
The list is a very difficult list because of the immense amount of additional rules you might need to know
A few -
The MARKER gun aims at scenery, not enemies
-- After you shoot it, if you rolled a hit, it lands on location and creates a Deployable Repeater
------ If it misses, it scatters like a grenade
-- A Deployable Repeater allows you to make hacks within the Zone of Control (8") of the Marker
-- Hacks do not need LOF, they just need to be in range of a Repeater
The Hacking Device Plus ( HD+) allows you to make Forward Observation ( FO) thru Hacking
-- When a target is marked with FO, you can then fire your GML
----- Your GML then will hit the target regardless of range or LOF
This essentially means that you can shoot your Marker at walls that contains enemies on the other side, as long as no one sees you shoot it. No ARO are provoked, further more as long as no one sees your Hacker while she is Hacking, No ARO are provoked. Finally, if no one sees your Vertigo Zond while it is shooting its guided misslies... No ARO are provoked.
EDIT - Note, they need to actually be able to see the PERSON doing it, It does not matter if they can see the repeater land, and it does not matter if they can see the repeater while it is being used as a Hack point
This requires a lot of Orders
-- 1 to shoot
-- 1 to Hack/ FO
-- 1 to shoot missile...s (You can shoot upto 5 per turn, if they survive your missile... shoot another! for a new order)
and can be countered by enemy Hackers
But is very effective, if you need more info seek out the relative info on the wiki
This is why Nomad (and Bakunin especially) are known as the "Dirty Nomads" because they can kill you without you being able to do anything about it

@Uncool Villain, looks like you're ready for some paint! Always a good place to be I'm hoping the epoxy I have to use in order to attach mine to clear acrylic bases will be stout enough that I can avoid pinning the feet altogether, but we'll see. Going to fully paint and base one before I commit to any serious errors. Kind of jealous of your awesome array of corregedor stuff, I <3 Bakunin 60%, but the other 40 makes me sad sometimes... both sides are so awesome @Talamare, yeah, I've looked into the Guided missile trick. It does look pretty nasty. I'm not sure I'll be playing any time soon, but if I do, and if people are particularly rough on the new guy... it seems like a good way to play hard right back. Really that's a good idea to use the Lunokhod in such a way, the vertigo and it's companion in the 2 pack are probably my least favorite kind of Nomad remote, with the sputniks and salyuts being much more favored. A different paint job and an extra bit for the GML and people may not give me too hard of a time (as long as I deign to bring other lists and not always GML them to death ). Thanks for your thoughts Talamare!

@GrimDork - Yeah with the Nomads I either really like the model or I hate it. The problem I have with Bakunin is I don't really like the style that much but I like the futuristic look of the Corregidors, etc.
I tried to to be extra careful with these models cause if they drop it is just about a guaranteed explosion of little parts and pinning seemed to be the best option.

I'm like that with some of the models. It may just be the paint job, but I hate the clockmaker. And the original Daktaris is far down on my list of liked models. Anything too cheese-cake to function. Zoe is on the line, reverend Moiras cross it but I have one so I'll still paint her.
Absolutely love all of the morlocks and uberfallkommando, and the moderators are mostly pretty cool. I really do like corregedor though. I'll probably get a sectorial of both worked up eventually, with a common pool of robots. Possibly an Iguana I use as a proxy lizard (cause it looks cooler). There are a couple of factions I'd be passingly interested in, but both parts of the Nomads are higher up the chain than any others.
