Love the flame effects on the Crisis suits. And Gandalf's staff looks fantastic, great OSL work.

My painting log is full of snakes

Some final pictures of the Warp's Angels. I have another two figures, for a total of 7. If I run them as a Breacher team, I only need to rig up three more. If I run them as Kroot Carnivores, I only need 13 more.
Regardless, they were pretty fun to paint. Mostly the GW sculpts, but with some head, hand, and gun swaps from Anvil Industry.

Holy clown fiesta, Batman! How is he going to salvage that?!?

Well, like this:

Saw this video from NinJon, thought I'd give something similar a try.

A total of about three hours on this whole model. I'm kind of impressed.

Lovely effect,.and incredible salvage job. For those of us old ones who prefer to read, can you summarise the process?

So, base the whole thing in bright, crazy colors. I did turqoise from above, pink from below, and a yellow on the lowest parts of the feet and hands. I even did one more layer after the proof photo just to get down into all the cracks and recesses.

Then, and this part still seems like it wouldn't work even after it did, you only paint the mid tones and highlights. Paint them in the normal colors, leaving your darkest shadows the bright colors. The shadows of the model are not black, or even dark in most cases at all. In the video he used more reds in his undercoat, that really contrasted well with the dark exoskeleton of his big tyranid.

Layer the mid tones, but in degrees of opacity, not in degrees of color from the shadow to the midtone. The bright base color shows through and gives a cool effect to the midtone skin, fur, etc. I used watered down paint of the color I wanted the skin or whatever to be, and just feathered/wet blended it out until it mostly covered, but had some color showing through.

Cover the area that would be the brightest in an opaque version of that same color. It was one, sometimes two passes on most surfaces. I had a regular dab of paint on my palette and a watered down dab and just went back and forth between the two.

Do highlights as usual. This is the step where you can go further to make the mini really pop, or only go as far as tabletop standard if you want.

The whole thing was fast. From primed black, to what you see in the photos was just under three hours of work. I saved so much time not going back and forth darkening and re-establishing my midtones.
It was difficult to see at first, with so many bright colors everywhere, but once you get a midtone/highlight layer on everything, the effect just starts to work.

Cracking return Jazzy! The latest beastie looks amazing! The underpainting seems a cool idea that worked well for you. Ninjon has some cool videos, but I hadn’t seen that one before.

Love the wizard, as others have said the OSL is awesome! Love the catachan gang too, cool idea well executed
