Wow, for a guy without a lot of hobby time, that sure is a lot of terrain. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to play on.

Now showing a Harlequin Dreadnought!

Painting total as of 4/25/2024: 33 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Good to see you’re keeping busy Jazzy! The terrain looks cool already, can’t wait to see what graffiti you come up with this time

The weather cleared up and I took advantage to prime some minis. Another 20 beaky boys and my (theoretically, if I can get it done) entry for the monthly challenge.
A couple of demons for Reign in Hell. My leader is based on "Little Tiffany" from the MIB scene where Will Smith shoots the cardboard cutout of a girl holding quantum physics books. I shaved off her teddy bear and sculpted a gs book in her hands. In the movie, she's wearing red and yellow, but because of the colors I'm doing for the base I'm probably going to switch that up and go a pale blue.

Hope to get some time this week to get the terrain and the demons finished. Both the monthly and the LoER comps end this weekend.

Got the bases painted, at least one good layer. Not quite the color I wanted. Still some touch up to do, and then some base coats on the skin. She is so tiny!

She’s a cute little mini, looks about half the size of a space marine to me. Should help you to finish her for the weekend I suppose!

Here is the finished terrain. Well, "finished". The LoER Challenge went up to yesterday, so I had to post something. I still need to do the graffiti, which since it is all freehand, takes a lot of time. I think it's the best part in many ways, but there are many steps before I get there.

[Thumb - IMG_3352.jpeg]

[Thumb - IMG_3354.jpeg]
And with all the other terrain pieces in the set. A bit bigger than the Killteam board.

[Thumb - IMG_3355.jpeg]
Several different shades of gray, the new stuff is much darker. Not sure how much I want to worry about that.

[Thumb - IMG_3358.jpeg]
And with models, just because it looks cool.

Space Marines vs Skaven, I know, I know.
But, until I finish my Tau Army, those are the two forces I have.
And, for the monthly challenge I only managed to finish one of the models I planned. She'll have to wait for her Devoted, but here is the Leader of my Reign in Hell cabal.

Still a long way to go on the terrain, and a lot of models sitting in the primed-ready-to-paint queue, but decided on a little palette cleanser. Looking to finish these two for the monthly competition, as I made a whole crap ton of mistakes. And that's an imperial crap ton, mind you, not a metric crap ton.

But, some nice things happening regardless. Tried out painting liquids in glass containers. Not the best result, but I'm pretty happy with it for a first attempt. I had to file some rivets off the dwarf's gun once I realized it wasn't sculpted as glass, but there you go.

Painted the metal with nmm style but using tmm paints. Hope to be able to get them across the finish line.

Love that ogre! I’d say he’s one of my favourite things I’ve seen you do Jazzy. The skin on his arms is fantastic! The glass bottles look really good for a first try

Thank you, Gobert. Very kind of you to say. I was really impressed with the way his arm came out.

If you like skin, keep your eyes peeled on the blog for what's coming up. I need to take some more photos, but here's an early stage WIP. I just have to get it done before the end of the month.

She's definitely looking at you, Kyoto.
She was sculpted by the people over at https://www.female-miniatures.com/
I bought her as a physical model, but they have their sculpts on My Mini Factory, too, if you have a 3d printer.
There are different options for the model depending on how many layers of clothing she's managed to take off.

Thanks. Me too, I think. I was really jazzed at first. But between the cloth, leather belts, wooden mug, there are a lot of brown/reds in the piece. I need a way to switch it up and bring some life into her. I'm thinking about some glow from a fireplace and shadows, but I don't want to redo what I've already done. Which from the picture, is a little more on her face and then the front of her shirt.

Color spot on her collar, belts, and scabbard maybe? Could do a nice woad blue or green? Looking good so far!

Painting everything brown is my go-to technique!

I just realized I hadn't posted any more pics of the nearly finished model here.

She's not quite done. Still need to pick out a couple of details, the wreath in her hair and the collar about her neck to name a few. There are a couple of transition points, especially on her legs, that need another visit. Might be a while before I get there.
