As the list says this is my more infantry based IG list. Never made a IG list before but main thing I was wanting to do was gun down the enemy with sheer fire power and contest the objectives. I plan to put my Lord Commissar with the blob of Infantry, and use my HWT and SWS to sit on objectives. Vets are there to hop off the vendettas and just melta the dangerous targets. C&C is welcome as this is my first guards list.

Put voxs in your infantry squads or they won't get the re-roll bonus. Both platoon and company CMD squads are equipped for too many rolls, move the plasma to your CMD squad and move the auto-cannons to your infantry squad.
The list seem ok for a normal game but I see almost any tau and elder list mowing through this.

Yea, I was thinking of maybe adding some armor to the list. I'm tempted to drop maybe the special weapons squad and a hws and possibly 2 infantry squads to fit in some tanks.

I really wanted to add in some Stormtroopers but damn are they expensive.

Suicide storm troopers could be useful, if you add armor, I'd recommend dropping the SWS and moving there weapons into you more Elite unit. Move the heavy weapon squads into your infantry blobs so they help out at range.
On adding tanks make sure to take at least 2 and that you specialize them for 1 task. Vanquisher for armor, exterminator gun boat for infantry or executioner for Elite units. And if all else fails the Demolisher can take on everything but flying units.

Yea, I was thinking 2 tanks, haven't decided on which yet. We have several players at the store i go to and they're all pretty diverse. I think with 3 vendettas I could handle most flyers correct? or is 3 overkill and maybe I should go with 2?

Looks pretty good. The number of vendettas depends on how many fliers you face on a regular basis. If it's only two or three, then you could easily get by with a couple. The main tweak that I would probably make is to drop the special weapon squad as they stand out like a sore thumb. With the points saved I'd look at getting some power axes and possibly melta bombs in your blob squad. Sergeants with axes put out three attacks each, and you'd be surprised how good a blob is in assault with the sheer numbers plus the power weapon attacks.

HWS are easily targetted, and rendered useless, better put your HW in the IS.
Same with special weapon squad, and if you want a squad with a strong killing potentiel : vet.
Vet full plasma, with demolition specialisation. You'll throw the demolition charge + 8 plasma shots. Even termies wont like it.
The lack of tanks might be a little handicap, you could always throw a basilisk and a demolisher, with just that, it'lltake "only" 300 points, while being able to bring the punch you may lack.

Alright, I'm going to take all the current suggestions and see what I can do to move some stuff around. Also is the way my Lord Commissar upgraded fairly decent?
I gave him a power sword to have some oomph should his blob get into cc, and the camo cloak to offer some decent saves. maybe I should give the blob camo cloaks as well to make them somewhat survivable.

If you run a blob only 1 infantry squad needs a vox. But if you keep the squads broken up you will want a vox on each one.
Since your doing a blob you only need one.

Thanks, that's good to know, that gives me an additional 20pts to finagle with.
The power weapons are just what a suggestion I was given by grrfrank but I could always drop them and keep the points if need be. Automatically Appended Next Post: Damn though just realized I no longer have a way to get my 3rd vet squad close to melta stuff. Should I change their gear or find a way to get the third vendetta back in?

When you've got a large blob, with multiple sergeants and possibly commissars in there as well, they add up in a hurry, with four attacks each on the charge. I'd definitely make them axes though, the initiative penalty doesn't make much difference as most units would strike ahead of you anyway, and the strength bonus and ap2 make a big difference. If you're running individual squads however, I agree it's not worth it. Like everything else with guard, it's the quantity that makes it work.
Anecdotal evidence I realise, but I've had a pair of dreadknights chopped up by a 50 man blob before. It takes a while, but they will grind through most things eventually, and with a commissar in there to make them stubborn and give them the reroll, they can lose combat every turn without breaking until you finally kill the enemy unit.

That's what I was thinking grrfrank. But what about the 3rd vet squad? I dropped a vendetta and the hws/sws to get the 2 demolishers in. Should I change the 3rd vet squads gear to be more ranged based?

Yea, was thinking about him. I'll see if I can get him in. Still thinking maybe I drop a demolisher and get the third vendetta back so all 3 vets have a ride. I wish storm troopers weren't so damn pricey!

Comes out to a grand 1453 points. which leaves me 47 pts to fiddle around with and equip that 3rd vanilla vet squad with something to make it shooty. any suggestions? I was thinking maybe an autocannon, and plasmaguns? maybe even give it a vox to receive orders better since it will be staying behind and more then likely holding objectives. or would i be better scrapping this 3rd vet squad and maybe having another platoon with a blob? ugh or maybe a aegis defence line to help with my blob.
sorry just at a loss as to what to do with my 3rd vets since they dont have a ride anymore
