Now that the holidays are with us, I've been playing a little bit of FFG's Relic boardgame, and it has reminded me that I'd really like to paint the little busts. However - with 10 character busts and only 4 stands provided - and a really tight fit that's pretty much guaranteed to destroy any nice paintwork you put on them if you grip tightly enough to pull them out - I'm wondering if people have worked out alternative stands for the busts, and of course - what they are?

Besides painting an appropriate Citadel Miniature for each character, that is...

You could try smoothing the top of the stands and putting magnets in both ends.

The tops don't have a lot of space, and I'd much rather have permanent playing pieces, since I'd like to paint and display them.

I actually received a copy for christmas and was thinking about this myself. Interested to see if anyone has any good ideas as I also thought the busts would be great to paint.

My initial thought was trying t o file the stands a little, but that can get dicey if you file too much.

Yeah, you can make them easier to remove, but that doesn't really solve the problem of wanting to be able to use them as shelf display models.

Get a cheap Chess set and use the pawns as stands.

That's quite a decent idea, and one I'd considered. Main problem is finding ones that will fit (even with some small modification) since cheap chess sets are hard to find locally, and easy to find online, but unpossible to check the sizes from eBay China products.

Try ebay, and ask the seller for size of pieces first.

I sent FFG customer service a question about this a while ago. But got a pretty definitive "However, we do not provide extra components for our games" response unfortunately.

Have you looked into having someone cast up additional stands?
Or perhaps a 3D printed option?

If you find a source/solution I'd definitely be interested in getting enough to have all of mine on stands.
