Has anyone used this guy yet. Is he better than Aeteos or another GFMC? He is awfully expensive but I find him intriguing. Would love to hear from anyone that has played him and your thoughts on him? I am not buying a model like that without a lot of input. I like his 7 attacks on the charge, he has a decent array of weapons that can damage (but no d weapons) he has a nice stomp attack and good charge distance. I just don't know. I lso like his psychic defense - quite nasty.

He is pretty great in a situation where D weapons are nerfed or restricted but it can't compete with a Turbo-laser warhound. Basically nothing is better that Aetaos with his rerollable 2++ under the grimoire, but if you ban D weapons that combination has to be nerfed as well. The Brass Scopion has pretty decent shooting but the main draw is that it can make combat very fast and can beat almost anything in CC. Because of how many stomps it gets you have a 50% chance to remove every model under a small blast template every assault phase (just stack all the stomp templates on top of a character) and if you make combat with any vehicle except maybe a big titan you will kill it easily in one assault phase, average 4 stomps penetrating on a 2+ plus a bunch of strength 10 attacks at good weapon skill for a titan. It has to be careful to avoid high invulnerable save units so it doesn't get tarpitted (though it is stronger vs them than most GCs) but it's real strength lies in the ability to assault a parking lot of vehicles, get a good stomp roll and just drop an easy penetrating hit on all of them before it even attacks. It will easily kill a Baneblade or any similar tank in one round of cc.

I'm also very curious about the Great Brass Scorpion. From what I know about its profile it does seem quite powerful. Also, I actually like the fact that it doesn't have any D weapons, as I feel they're OTT in an Escalation game.
I'm going to have the funds to afford such a monstrous model soon, and I'm seriously considering the idea of getting a GBS for use in Escalation and Apoc. Knowing how does it actually fare in combat would be nice.

Aetaos is good but is considerably more expensive. And an Aquila will petty much destroy flyers. I don't know - I'm still on the fence.

There is two profiles for Greater Brass scorpion.
One from the IA Apoc book and one from Warzone pandorax.
the FW one can assault on 3D6, and the Demolisher cannon is replaced with the Soulburner cannon, wich is the same has the demolisher, except it ignores covers.
The pandorax one has a much more harsher Rune of the Blood God rule(on a double1 or 6 the Psyker rolls on the Terrors from the Warp chart), and comes with a classic Demolisher cannon, But has the Deamonforge rule..
But appart from that, they are identical.
WS,BS Init 3, S10, 6A D3+2 Stomps, Super heavy Walker.
Deamon, IWND

@above, i'd say automatic perils is harsher than a chance for Terrors from the Warp. The latter only has a 1/18 chance to actually do something meaningful while the latter is a big deal for any psyker thinking about hitting the scorp with a psychic power.

The pandorex one overwrites the IA one, the not much point asking who's better.
Anyway-in the realm of D guns, he is too big and expensive to work, outside of it he's decent.
Not very well armed for it's price, nor insanely hard to kill, but can and WILL ruin your day if you underestimate him-and heaves protect if you let him catch anything.

On no you also get the auto Peril of the Warp, its just that you also toll on the Terrors of the Warp table on snake-eyes or carboxes.

The Pandorax one does not overwrite the Forgeworld one.

Sasori is correct. The War Zone units are primarily intended only for their respective zones, and though other Apocalypse games can use them they are not escalation units. The Forge World PDF specifically states that the Imperial Armour version is the one you should use if playing Escalation. If playing Apocalypse, I think the Imperial Armour variant is better because it makes it into combat faster. That's where the Scorpion truly excells.

I don't agree, the Greater Brass Scorpion is MUCH bigger than the Defiler Version, a Drednought barely comes up to the body on a Greater Brass Scorpion whereas it is almost as tall as the body on the Defiler variant. I imagine the best way to make a greater brass Scorpion from 2 Defilers is to use green stuff wires and fomacore or plasticard to make a body and use the Defiler parts for detail, legs, etc. Wouldn't look anywhere near as good as the real thing but if you can't afford such an dollar-efficient unit you're not going to get a great model for it without exceptional scatchbuilding skills.

Honestly most people don't care. You can make it look good enough. They cost far to much for most people to buy. If I ever did want to field one I would do this.

I would care. I wouldn't want a super heavy tank the size of a land raider grabbing up cover saves when it's actually much larger. A friend of mine uses this a lot, and it sure is affective. It's a great piece, hard to kill with it's invuln, and just beats up everything. I've only killed it once, and that was with a fusion blades crisis commander who died to destroy it.
