Do we need a seperate section in painting and modeling for airbrush questions?
This would stop the repeat questions and hopefully make people's answers easier to find

There wouldn't be enough trafic for it, I think.

No, a sticky would be enough, or maybe just somehow getting people to use a search.
The tragedy is that 99% of the airbrush traffic is the same three questions (what airbrush, what compressor, and thinning paints vs. airbrush paints).
We get the first one about once a week....or more.

I voted yes, I'd like to see an airbrush section. It's a massive learning curve when you start and you have tons of questions.

Id like to see this, with articles stickies at the top of it for what airbrush to buy and what paint to use, thinning paint etc etc the questions that come up 10times a month.
Would be happy to work on such articles, I had planned to once before and never got around to it

Yeah as a noob airbrusher myself I think it would be a good idea, some of the more experienced guys out there might not agree,
I was thinking it could have stickys reviewing the various brushes out there as well as one for compressors and proper paint thining

I agree, what harm would there be if it was a lower traffic section? Not as if adding a new section is technically hard or costly?

Airbrushing doesn't need its own board. It fits quite neatly under the broad umbrella of "painting" and would complicate discussion that involves more than just airbrushing (which board does it go in, do you cross-post, etc.). What we need, as countless others have said when this and similar suggestions crop up, are articles/stickies and a way to get people to actually read them before posting the same old questions.
Airbrushing is a hot topic and question/thread title wording is generally pretty vague, making the search function less than helpful. When the answer could be found by clicking one or two threads not even halfway down the front page, though, patience tends to run thin. Having a reasonably comprehensive sticky directing people to the proper threads and articles (which would need to be compiled, if kept local - the Dakka article section is seriously neglected) would hopefully cut down on the volume of repeat posts. At worst, it'd give responders a quick and easy out - just redirect and let the thread die.

^ This, a thousand times this.
If it were in a different forum, to be honest, many might not ever go there - to contribute.

I could certainly get behind a sticky at the top of P&M, its most definatly a hot topic being repeated more than once a week usually. Sometimes twice a day.
Something about selecting your tools and setup, operating and maintaining it, paints - thinning vs pre-thinned, and common trouble shooting wouldnt go amiss.
We all kinda know who posts the responses to the airbrush questions, its the same bunch of names all the time, not that we planned it... but we kinda cycle around who is posting the explanations week in week out hehe.
Recently I've kinda given up posting on airbrushing threads as Oadie said ; patience tends to run thin, some of the things being asked are things that have been answered sooo many times and the posters obviously arent looking for themselves. Most times dont even seem to have used any common sense or brain power of their own

I hate to say it, but I am starting to feel this way as well.....the worst is when literally the same question is on the same page already!
(this happened a few weeks ago...there were literally three threads with the exact question, two of them even on the same page).
In fact, when we do (rarely) get a new airbrush question (we have two right now, one about paint colors the other about a tricky needle/paint issue) I am giddy, as its not another "what airbrush should i buy" thread.
I too have thought several times about making a "COMMON AIRBRUSH QUESTIONS" thread for a sticky, but I have not yet done so (lazy me.....).

The same sort of question comes up occasionally about Kickstarters in the News & Rumours section, and most of the answers apply to this. Namely, that he two topics are not different enough to warrant a separate forum. You can also add the small amount of traffic it would get as well.

Maybe we can get a KS/Airbrush sub forum going? That should generate enough traffic to be viable.
