i was thinking, the IoM has Terra as the seat of imperial power, the birthworld of humanity and effectively the homeworld of the imperium. Guard and marines along with everything else can say Hey this is my world Blah Blah Blah.

if the orces of Chaos had a world which one would it be? personally i think Cadia, its where Lorgar began his journey on the darker path and slowly lead a good half of humanity in that direction as well.

any thoughts?

I would think that the entirety of the Eye of Terror is 'home' for many of the Chaos legions, at least. Perhaps some of the worlds contained within.

Beyond that, much of Chaos is based in the Warp as a whole, so it doesn't seem centralized. Then again, 'centralization' isn't really a strong suit for Chaos in the first place.

It seems rather counter to the nature of Chaos to have a 'home base'.

Exactly.

its a weird thought for me because i havent considered it before, do chaos care? what about the legions old homeworlds? do they still call those home?

Probably not, really. You gotta remember that people/legions don't fall to Chaos out of a huge love for their hometown. Moreoever, the Legions gifted to the Primarchs were not from that homeworld. Yes, some guys were (the only one I know for sure were Dark Angels doing something to raise Jonson's men to Marine equivalence) but for the most part, the Legions were with the Emperor. So why would they have any particular loyalty to a world?

As far as the Demon Primarchs, they are way more at home in the Warp now, and way more focused on other things than a plot of land.

Well the legions did come from the homeworlds of the Primarchs, thats why the HH series make distinctions between Terran marines, those created before the Primarch is found, and native ones (Prospero, Fenrisian, Cholchisian etc.). But most of their loyalty to their homeworld was lost in the Heresy or the subsequent destruction of the homeworlds by the Imperium.

In the Eye of Terror they have homeworlds or not. For example Abbadon's Black Legion is fleet based, as a new homeworld there would be too easy a target, as was proven by how they became the Black Legion. But the Iron Warriors do have a new homeworld in the Eye of Terror, Medrengard. It differs per legion and warband.

Sorry for my spelling. I'm not a native speaker and a dyslexic.

Not true that they didn't have sentimentality to their old home worlds, they just don't have one anymore. The Aplha Legion's was always unknown, Angron cared nothing for the people of his world as his slave friends were wiped out when the Emperor beamed Angron out of the fight, and Lorgar destroyed it as part of a ritual to turn Angron into a Daemon Prince. Curze hated Nostramo and destroyed it before the Heresy. The they set up shop on Tsagualsa but then abandoned it after Curze was killed and the Eldar wrecked the Legion. Perturabo's world, Olympia rebelled against him at the dawn of the Heresy and he had it's population wiped out, forcing him to join Horus out of shame and knowing the Emperor wouldn't forgive him, he now resides on Medrengard. Magnus loved Prospero but Russ and the Custodes annihilated it before the heresy and Magnus was forced to flee to the Eye of Terror to The Planet of Sorcerer's. Barbarus, Cthonia and Chemos were all destroyed post heresy, Lorgars home Monarchia was destroyed by the Ultras in revenge for Calth, The Word Bearers now reside on Sicarus in the Eye of Terror. Mortarion is the last Primarch to have a homeworld, he crafted a daemon world in the image of Barbarus but 1st Captain Typhus was sickened by his Primarch's sentimentality and had the world destroyed before fleeing to spread death and disease alongside the Black Crusades.
As far as I know, the other legions are too broken to have a homeworld. The Black Legion are too proactive to sit around on one world, Abbadon has his eyes on Terra and won't stop until he is sat on that throne.

Word Bearers have Sicarius (and a second major forgeworld planet in the Maelstrom who's name I forget)

Iron Warriors have Medrengard.

Death Guard have the Plague Planet.

Thousand Sons have the Planet of Sorcerors.

That's about it in the present day, IIRC (Fulgrim's Pleasure Planet doesn't really belong to the legion, and the Night Warrior's place where Night Haunter died is a place they only return to sometimes)

The Night Lords never return to Tsagualsa, they see the planet as cursed. Where the legion died. Plus the Night Lords aren't even a legion anymore, just Warbands that still wear the old Legion colours, when Curze died they tore each other apart fighting over the spoils. The Imperium recolonised it and it sat unmolested for close to 10,000 years. When Talos's warband returned there it was considered madness to go back. Then they slaughtered the populace and I won't spoil it for anyone who still hasn't read Void stalker but it doesn't look like anyone is going to want to go back there again.

Sicarius is probably the spiritual home of Chaos currently, well in terms of Planets anyway.

I would disagree. Aside from the Word Bearers I don't think the others give a damn about it. Non mortal chaos powers like the gods and daemons couldn't care less about physical planets either. They are all just battle grounds for the great game.

I imagine the closest thing they have would be either Planet Killer or the Vengeful Spirit. Which ever one has Abbadon onboard at the time.

I already addressed this in detail. All of the traitor marine home worlds were destroyed either by themselves or the loyalists during "The Scouring"

Except the Alpha Legion one because Apharius was not discovered on world and never told anyone where he had been from.

Certain Legions have "homes" like IWs have Medrengard as their homeworld of sorts.
