I was reading Lexicanum and saw that there is a chainblade bayonet for boltguns. I asked myself why this wasn't a thing in the game, and lo! An idea is born. Here we go:
Upgrade for: Tactical Squads, Scout Squad, Crusader Squads, Devestator Squads , and Sternguard Squads, all only on boltguns.
It would have the following profile:
Range: Melee
Strength: User
AP: 6
This would be in exchange of close combat knives.
Thoughts?
(Also, if I'm just an enormous derp and missed something, feel free to tell me.)

Chainswords have no bonus stats. A simple chainblade is, likely, not stronger.

AP6 is also all-but useless due to the rarity of a 6+ armour save, and how low impact it has where it is present.

it hasn't been a thing because they haven't had models with them since the original RTB01 sprues, that is until forge world released some recently. In the original rules they only counted as chainswords if i remember correctly.

An excellent point BrotherHaraldus, so AP:- probably, and also Specialist Weapon for a special rule, as well as possibly some version of Hammer of Wrath?

Still wouldn't really make sense. It would make it useless as a Ap- specialist weapon compared to any other close combat weapon. Hammer of Wrath wouldn't really work either since it's supposed to be reserved for units like bikes and jump troops slamming into the enemy, not every grunt with a bolter.

The problem is you're trying to find a way to fit something that's usually left to the RPGs than the tabletop games. Actions such as firing, holstering your weapon, drawing your close combat weapon and charging the enemy takes time and planning in RPG games like Rogue Trader and even makes gun mounted weapons amazing for certain tactics. In the table top they prefer to gloss over a majority of the issues just to fit it into a D6 system and compress the time.

Also to put it into perspective, a chain axe is a 3 point AP4 upgrade limited to only an elite choice in CSM.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

I actually have to say this sounds good and like it can work. The hammer of wrath does make sense on a charge since you are slamming into enemy with them. Another way to do it is if they charge they get +2 attacks without hammer of wrath hits.

Specialist is interesting as well for characters with pf or lightning claw, since in order to get the bonus attack you need 2 specialist weapons they don't have to be the same thing, it is dumb though why a huge count Bolter gets a bonus pf or lc attack though. If it did it would have to be a 10 point upgrade.

Yeah...it's kinda like that.

Well, being as they're blades mounted on what are theoretically two-handed carbines, you could make an argument for them counting as Heavy Chainswords, as per the BRB.

What about instead of giving bolter mounted chainblades special rules just make it so they count as an additional close combat weapon.

So for "x" amount of points even the basic tactical squad can have two close combat weapons. 3 attacks on the charge for a basic tac marine as opposed to two.
