I am Making a dark angels 6th Ed Army, The Guardians of the Covenant.
Disclaimer: I have not played in some time and I am just getting back into things

my question is, when using a character like azrael in a successor chapter, it used to be that you would use the model to represent the equivalent character and all the special rules associated with the character, however if there is only one in existance for the characters unique wargear how do you go about resolving that, do you just do a Counts As where necessary and change the Items to fit your fluff? I do not see Azrael leading a Successor chapter into combat unless it was a joint force of the Unforgiven, with many chapters represented.

for example
lets say I have a character named Agiel which I want to Count as Azrael. could I then say that his Helm of Mortikah, Mortikah's Fury, Etc. counted as the items that would come standard in Azraels war-gear, lions helm etc.?

forgive me if this has already been answered in another post, i couldn't find anything, my search-fu is rusty

For fluff purposes, you can call a model what you like. For gaming purposes, the entries in the DA army list have specific equipment, statistics and points costs. As long as you follow the rules as laid down in the Codex you can use whatever model you like and call it what you like, provided that your opponents can easily understand what is going on.

If you are using the Azrael model and equipment in your DA successor army, but painting him a different colour and calling him a different name, no-one will particularly care as long as you mak eit clear at the start of the game what the model represents.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
