So, I'm painting up my Chaos Lord from DV. I don't have too wide a range of colors, so when I drybrush, I simply add white to the base color and keep dry rushing up. But as I recently discovered (and should have foreseen) red turns to pink with white in it. Not very befitting of a Chaos Lord, haha. Does anyone have any tips on how to drybrush a red cape without it turning pink?

IIRC a lot of the reds people do start going into the orange range. instead of the whites. though another option is to still blend up with white then glaze it back down to red.

General rule of thumb, do not use white to make a color brighter. Adding white results in pastels. To lighten red, add yellow or orange.

To save what you have, just coat in a red ink and it will tone down the pink.

Also you can always dry brush up to the red you have. Start with mixing red with black and use that as a first coat, then successively less black reds up to how red you want it.

Will make it a little darker but still red.

I'd actually mix it with brown instead of black; it will give it a much warmer transition
