I was just wondering if all the recent releases (Escalation, Strong point, etc) have had an effect on anyone's games? While a few people have some super-heavies they could use, for the most part we've just been playing our same old average game sizes. My LGS tends to stick to about 1750 to 1850 per "friendly" game and 1500 for most in store tournaments. So anyway, have the new releases caused any of you to start playing at higher point levels more regularly?

Most common level in my Area is 2,000 points . We've really found it to be more fun for us and Challangeing to have to deal with every one's power combo's . Everyone is very friendly about it and every battle is usually very bloody for both sides as all the players are fairly good .
We haven't really ventured lower

I've been trying to push for more 2000 point games. I feel like that's actually a really good level for this edition. Not sure why I can't convince anyone though. If you guys are playing at 2000, are you allowing double force org too?

1750 is the norm at my club.
Some times 1500 if there's a tournament coming up at the points level, or with newer players who are low on models, and some times 1850 as ETC practice.

I'm honestly surprised to see so many people playing higher than 2K games. Do you guys have large gaming groups? I often wonder if part of the reason we only play sub 2k games is because of how jam packed our LGS tends to get. People may be afraid they couldn't get enough games in.

It seems most people play either 1500 or 2000. Or fairly often two people will team up to do 2x2000 for a 4000 point game. But I honestly think those games take too long so I tend to stick to the 1v1 1500

Most common I see is 1500, 1750, or 1850. If playing doubles which is common is 1000-1200 a player.
Keeps games under 2 hours and still enough points to bring some big toys but makes you really be picky.

I've always been fond of smaller points, like 1000-1500 to remove a lot of the cheese and also make games more accessible to new players. It's almost impossible for a new player to get in on 2k+ games!

Thanks for the responses so far everyone! I have another question -
For those of you regularly playing the 2k+ games -
Were you always playing at that scale, or have the recent supplements like Escalation caused you to up the points levels from what you were playing?

We typically do 1,500 - 2,000 point games, and of course DFO is allowed at the appropriate points level. Before games we will discuss if Escalation and/or Stronghold Assault will be played or not. We will also discuss how "hard" the game will be; I will normally bring "tournament" lists and "fun" lists if I am looking for a pick up game. My last game saw me take a Baneblade at 1K points. I got tabled. The Baneblade's explosion killed more than the Baneblade's firepower, lol.

My LGS usually runs 1000/1500/2000pt games. More than that is problematic as it's hard to set up a game to start early enough to finish higher point games by the time the staff starts frowning your way...
I've got a regulation sized gaming table and a decent amount of terrain in my home, but I've only managed to set up a high point game once and it was a doubles game so I didn't get to field a large army by myself. My two main gaming buddies can only go up to around 1500pts each and I can never seem to manage to convince them to play 2v1 against me. :(

I've found it difficult to complete a 2,000 point game in 3 hours (which is my normal time "budget"). I have been really enjoying 1,000 point and less games, including Kill Team. I feel like small games are far more tactical and much less of a "cheese-fest".

1750/1500/750 for tourneys and LGSs. The local GW store's standard is 1200/1000/750 due to limited table space, though. Thing is, odd work hours and frequent travel means I rarely play at my hometown. Most of my games on the last half of 2013 were against my regular wargaming mates, veterans with large armies all of them, at 2500, 2000 or 1750 points, with the odd 750 points battle thrown in to test armies for fast tourneys.

I would play any size, but my preference is to see the CODEX expressed in its full panoply. Hard to do that in 1K games.
I can do a 2K game in 2 hours, 3 if we are BS'ing or if its at my house (cause when you're at home, who cares how long it takes? No one, seems like to me).
Whats wierd is that when its a tourney, suddenly people get slow. You'd think they'd know better. tisk tisk.

I don't really do much playing at my LGS, but it seems like 1500 or 1850 are what people do mostly depending on preference, but it's mostly been Warmachine there lately.
My friends and I usually do 1850 or 2vs2 with 1500 pts a player.
