I like to flock the edges of my movement trays (WHFB) with regular green grass flock, but when I transport the movement trays the flock has a tendency to fall off. I transport them pretty rough - I just stack them up and throw them in the pocket of my bag. So! I'm wondering if anyone knows a good way to keep the flock from falling off, but still look like flock. Meaning, if I spray it with some sealant, I don't want it to NOT look pretty much like flock.

Alternatively, I'm open to suggestions about how to better transport my movement trays!

I used a file to make the entire surface of the movement tray really course. Then a healthy amount of tacky glue and I've never lost any of the basing since.

This was after a terrible first attempt which was coming off in strips without the filing.

What kind of tacky glue did you use? Not just some PVA glue, right? I've got UHU glue, super glue, and PVA.

Aleenes. I got it at a local crafts store. I've switched to it for most of my basing needs. Haven't had any problems since the switch.

Yep, scuff up the plastic with a file or I use 60 grit sand paper and Aleens will stick and have enough flex so that it doesnt fall off. Also works wonders on gluing the foliage on those Woodland scenics plastic tree armatures that some people have problems with.

Excellent, I'll have to take a look to see if I can find Aleene's. It isn't too thick, is it? Like, when you put it on the base, it doesn't sit too high or anything? Easily spreadable?

I found a really cheap bottle of Aleene's today and I'm gonna give it a try. The store also had "easy flow" Aleene's - any experience with that?

It's thicker than Elmer's Glue-All, but it's not a paste or anything. You can still spread it around easily enough - if I understand correctly, it's just PVA with less cheap filler, hence the slightly thicker consistency/higher initial tackiness and stronger bond, once cured. If you can find it in the UK, you should be able to get better results without having to change your method.

[edit:] Ninja'd. Never used Easy Flow. Most people seem to prefer the tackiness vs. cheaper generic PVA, so no one at the craft store had tried it, either. Personally, I'd stick with the standard bottle and water it down when needed - "easy flow" tasks usually also mean broad coverage, so it's no extra bother since the brush is coming out, anyway.
