So me and my friends just tried the black crusade starter mission, and the pc's just mowed through their enemies. Space marines just seem obscenely powerful in close combat(damage is d10 + 10 plus strength bonus(another 10). This would just instantly kill anything they came across in cc, even the inquisitor at the end. Were we playing this correctly?

Combat damage depends on the weapon they're using.

What is the party make up? What weapons do they have? What were they facing?

We were using the premade characters from broken chains. The player that was playing Azradel walked up to in inquisitor, rolled an 8(so 8+10 for the combat sword plus 10 for strength bonus, so 28 damage). The inquisitor only had armour 6 and t 4 so he evaporated into a fine mist. If we played it correctly anyway.

Partially wrong. The +10 listed for the Combat Sword includes his Strength Bonus, so it's just 1d10+10, not 1d10+20.

So with 18 Damage from the hit, the Inquisitor would have taken 11 wounds (18 - 4 for the Inquisitor's Toughness Bonus - 3 for his armour, as 2 of it has been negated by the Sword's Penetration = 11). He has a Wound threshold of 15, so he would still be alive (just).

Generally though when a Marine hits a human the human goes squish, so that's normal.

Ok, I knew marines were powerful, but I didn't think they were THAT powerful. Thank you.
