Been looking for a good way to run my Iron Warriors legion list, decided to go with the Iron Hands supplement codex. Dreadnoughts everywhere! I'm somewhat limited by running my chaos models as close to wysiwyg as possible and not having any exclusively SM models like drop pods, leading to some possibly bad choices in the list. My first time running loyalist space marines so comments/critiques welcome.

Master of the Forge /w Ironstone, Power Axe, Meltabombs

Techmarine /w Servo Harness, Meltabombs

Tactical Squad x 5 /w Plasmagun, Razorback /w TL Assault Cannon

Tactical Squad x 5 /w Plasmagun, Combi-Plasma, Rhino /w 2x Stormbolters, Hunter-Killer Missile

Tactical Squad x 5 /w Lascannon, Rhino /w Stormbolter, Hunter-Killer Missile

Venerable Dreadnought /w 2x TL Autocannons

Venerable Dreadnought /w Assault Cannon, Fist /w Heavy Flamer

Venerable Dreadnought /w Assault Cannon, Fist /w Heavy Flamer

Ironclad Dreadnought /w Fist/Heavy Flamer, Seismic Hammer/Meltagun, Assault Launchers

Ironclad Dreadnought /w Fist/Heavy Flamer, Seismic Hammer/Meltagun, Assault Launchers

Thunderfire Cannon

The plan is to run the MotF with the squad in the razorback, the Techmarine with a squad in a rhino, and slowly move everything up the field except for the thunderfire cannon and the lascannon tacticals camping in fortified terrain. Ironclads head for the nearest armor, venerables pop off shots at anything causing problems, and MotF stays in range of all the venerables healing hullpoints with the Ironstone and repairs. Any problems that stand out with this list?

Are you taking the MOTF because he's cheap? Raukan doesn't need one to run HS dreads.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

You won't make it far with your dreads. They melt. You want to drop them in. Probably another cannon.

Rain six Ironclads in pods. AV12 dies too easily walking.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

I was running the MotF because it seemed like a fluffy choice, and for the extra repair rolls. Might sub for an even cheaper guy, was just using him to wave the Ironstone around.

Wouldn't av13 Ironclads be a little more survivable walking up the field though? They'd be getting 4+ IWND and 6+/3+ repair rolls from the techs and ironstone artifact, and the Venerables would be in bolstered hopefully 3+ terrain. Even Eldar/Tau would need to focus a considerable amount of firepower into killing them.

If I did go with the Plastic Cup Drop Pod route, wouldn't only half of them get to come down turn 1? It seems like that would be even less survivable with fewer targets to focus down at once.

Six Ironclads in pods weighs in at 1020pts. I don't know point values for Raukaan artifacts, but I'll also say that meltabombs and a power axe on the MotF are pointless given his Servo Harness' S8 AP1 attacks. So he costs, what, 120? 130? Puts you to 1150. Leaves room for a trio of naked 5 man tac squads in pods with points to spare, which is nine pods total. Five Ironclads turn one.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.
