So there is a small tournament coming in a week. I know most, if not all, players are relatively new players, dont care about optimizing lists, buy what they think is cool. But there is some serious Dough as prize money. maybe 60-80 dollers. I dont want to crush them with my Tau list, But I like money and it would be awesome to win it. So. Should I bring a less optimized list or should I bring my A-Game?

Its for money, you can bring a strong Tau list without being that guy running an Ovessa Star unless you dont mind your friends being somewhat less willing to talk to you afterwords.

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Well there you go. Crush them mercilessly with the most overpowered list you can bring, harvest their tears, and enjoy your cash prize.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

If you go to a tournament expecting kid glove treatment, you are delusional. You show up to a tournament expecting people to bring their "A" game. If you can't handle that, take your licks and learn from your loss.

In other words:
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their warlords.

But don't be a jerk about it. Smile. Be sympathetic. Applaud their little victories. Try to give them pointers in a non-condecending manner. Complement their paint jobs and conversions. You can be a ruthless killer, but still be a fun guy to play against.
