So this weekend I have Caledonian tournament at North West gaming centre here in the UK, its the first big tournament of the season and is the Scottish ETC warm up/fund riser event. IT is a 5 game swiss style tourny with scoring system like the ETC. The event is 1850 with FW allowed but restrictions on the amount of interceptor units, 0-1 and no dataslates or escalation/stronghold either.

Some history on me, currently 19th on rankings for the UK come 7th at 50 man NW GT, joint 3rd at battlefield brum 60 man tourny, fifth at GT heat 3 60 man tourny with the screamers in the past 4 months. Have played Screamers since June 2013.

Good luck, I haven't seen a screamer council list like that before, how are you splitting the heralds up?

I was thinking of going to caldonian as well, but other commitments got in the way, I was going to bring a necron with CSM allies anti meta list. I've heard some big names are going this year, but you're clearly one of them with your past tournament track record.

Its going to be very match dependant, based on mission and opponent and first/second turn, board night fighting etc. Most of the time they will be in one of the screamer units so that has the 2++, the other screamer unit is there for redundancy and as its a harsh scoring system I have plumped for lots of troops and plan to drop the portal down early to get lots of other shooting but again will be match dependant, against low kill point armys I doubt I will be doing this.

This interests me.

Interesting list. That second screamer unit could be very nasty. You could easily have a second forewarning caster to throw on it as well.

I'm liking the dual threat of the double screamers, a nice twist on the standard list.

First opponents list could have been easier but also I've seen alot nastier TauDar, the extra screamers should be helpful at putting down the Riptides and preventing your council from getting bogged down.

What kind of terrain density are you expecting at the event, lots of LOS blocking or a little sparse, I've never been to the venue.

Its more that the list resists being alpha struck as much as it normally would, it has done well in my one whole test game but theory wise it works so watch this space!.

I have asked about the terrain and been advised there is plently and good mix, it was the same terrain as the GT heat 3 which was very good terrain so it is sounding good!.

Honestly, I'm a little skeptical about running a dual-screamerstar build. Actually, I'm normally skeptical about running any type of dual-deathstar builds (though mini-deathstars are ok). The problem will be the support units. That is one of the reasons why I didn't run dual paladinstar Draigowing builds back when the GK's were still dominant.

You will have problems against certain builds. One that comes to mind is Mechdar w/2-3 wraithknights. Your riptide Taudar opponent can also give you problems as well. His army is actually frighteningly good and very highly optimized.

In any case, good luck! I hope daemons will do well in a tournament that's probably going to be dominated by Tau and Eldar.

I am not using them as two deathstars Jim, one unit of screamers is purely ablative wounds, basically my turn 1 will be 2 heralds in a unit of 11 horrors (or maybe 10 depending on mission and deployment) with the grimoire and Tzeentch permitting, forewarning herald in each of the screamer units.

This gives 11 wounds before getting to the two other heralds and 16 (or 8 against str 8) wounds before getting to the two important heralds. Not much can do that in one turn, frankly I doubt anything can. My opponent can focus all of his fire on one of the units to take out that unit and herald if he wants but the riptide, he will be getting a few screamers at most with his large blast at str 8 then its down to my invul saves.

At NW GT I came 7th and faced in total 11 or slightly more wraithknights in 5 games, only one was left alive at the end of the game and that was on 2 wounds (damn 5++ shield thing!). I do not really fear Wraithknights as much as most screamer players do.

Top 10 for me I think list is good and you are experienced if you can avoid really bad matches you should do well.

I think you beat this taudar list comfortably because all his troops are pretty much fodder and can't hold objectives well.

I do think his scoring is weak, Kroot just die to a stiff breeze and hopefully I can get the drop on them. I need to do a certain few things in the first few turns to get on top Will be a interesting game.

Second game was a draw playing one of the guys we came up with looks like I will concede next game as really not feeling welk so wont be a good placing as I had planned for!

Ok, event is now over of course and you have had a few spoilers above!.

I ended up on 3 wins a draw and a lose, sadly due to scoring system it only took me to 33rd place below people with a worse win loss record. This really was not helped by the fact I did not feel well at all on day 1 and being only 5 games. Will post up some reports later tonight.
