Mostly minor changes here, but necessary ones IMO:

1. Dark Apotheosis - This I feel needs major changes as it should never be a downside to be turned into an immortal daemon!

- Character keeps all Chaos Artefacts, Invulnerable saves and Marks of Chaos he is equipped with
- If in power armour, Daemon Prince gets a 3+ save
- If in terminator armour, Daemon Prince gets a 2+ save
- If the Warlord, character keeps his Warlord Trait

2. Useless Boons - Character can re-roll the result if generates a result they cannot use (except Unworthy Offering, Chaos Spawn or Dark Apotheosis)
i.e. a character in termi armour rolling mechanoid or a character with no guns rolling + 1 strength for shooting attacks

3. Champions of Chaos - Character can choose whether or not to challenge. If he does not challenge, he does not get any Chaos Boons for killing characters in melee.

Totally agree on dark Apotheosis.

Now the change to CoC doesn't really matter, as if you don't declare the challenge, your opponent will only to lock your Character in a 1Vs1 combat.

What CoC needs is to actually had something that the Champ can use during duels.

Rethrow/Rending/parry save of 5++ or something.

I thought you don't get any boons if not participated in a challenge. Like when you kill some character with a precision strike or shot - you don't get no boons. Only with won challenges, right?

No it says in the chaos codex that boons are gained for killing characters - no challenge restriction applies.

I put the option to not challenge in as chaos characters don't currently have it and sometimes you don't want your sorceror or warpsmith (not too hot in combat compared to a lord) challenging that bloodthirster or hive tyrant!

But half the fun of playing anything Chaos is for the Chaos bit (The other half consists of great catch phrases, excellent dental, and nurglings). In all seriousness though the Chaos Boon Table gives the army that little spark of random that is inherent in every Chaos army. Quite frankly, I think it adds a layer of fun to just throw your fate in the hands of the capricious dice gods. It might not help you win but it creates great moments.

Champion of Chaos makes sense for the fluff bit. Take another unit to act as a champion for your warpsmith or sorcerer if your worried about challenges.

I'm all for the dark apotheosis rule change though.

Apotheosis and even Chaos Spawnhood need a bit of a change. Not by much, but just a little bit here and there would go a long way toward making it always a buff.

1) You gain "Daemon of [God]" based on mark of unit. If unmarked, roll a d4 (so 1-4, 5 and 6 are rerolls til you hit 1-4) to determine the Daemon type he is.
-Reasoning, Daemon princes must be purchased with said "Daemon of" upgrade. Doesn't make sense a guy devoted to Nurgle would somehow be a daemon prince that wasn't also a Daemon of Nurgle.

2) Chaos Spawn retain marks of unit. If they didn't have one, neither will the spawn. This is hardly game-breaking, btw.

3) All unique characters (rather than just Abaddon) cannot turn into a spawn or daemon prince. If I'm paying 230 flippin' points for Ahriman, I don't want him turning into some basic daemon prince or chaos spawn (as has happened to me every game I've ever ran him. Ever.) All of the unique characters in the book with the exception of Huron Blackheart have been at war with the Imperium since the Horus Heresy so I think it's safe to say if they were going to reach Daemonhood or disappoint their Gods enough to chaos spawn out, they would have done so by now.
