I have just been talking with a mate and we've been thinking of an apocolypse list for Orks. 3000 points roughly

This list would have:

HQ

Thrakka with a squad a mega knobs/knobs with cyborg boddys, pain boy and mix of weapons.

The remaining point around 2500 would be made up purley of boyz (around 400 of them).

So, what are your thoughts on such a horde? Would you use it just for a luaghor could it be a serious contnder?

It would be cool to see all that on the table, although I don't think it would do well in Apoc. If your opponent has any Destroyer weapons with a template, it will decimate the boyz.

True. This list did originally come about just from I wonder how many buyz you'd get for 3000 points. It would be cool to see though.

Thinking and typing here a second... Standard table is 4x6, and in the easiest deployment setup for my math, you use the first foot.... So that's 12"x72" or 864 square inches (doing this in my head, feel free to correct my math). If you assume an ork boy is sitting in the center of a 2" diameter circle, which I think is pretty fair, that means each boy takes up (pi x 1^2)", or 3.14 square inches. Rounding down to 3", the Boyz alone will take up 1200 square inches, almost 1.5 times the space you actually have, without even factoring in Ghazzy and friends.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that I hope you have a big table.

Also, supposing you move two Orks a second, that still well over 3 minutes of just moving models every turn.

So, go listen to this song, and then have your hands constantly moving models for the ENTIRE thing.

That is a glorious idea. Aside from some D weapons you shouldn't worry too much about opposition. The green tide is still the best list we can take and there's no way your opponent is killing 400 boyz before you close the gap.

With that many boyz i pray to Gork & Mork you brought KFF meks.

D pie plates gak on everything, so don't worry about it. Just make sure you have some D weapons on your side, so that if they shoot at the blob your own D can nail their titan unopposed

Make sure you put Ghaz and such into transports though, to protect against said plates. Void Shields are probably a decent idea too, depending on how your ruling how shields and blasts interact

A Painboss will give the entire 400 man blob FNP for just 50pts, Big Meks can give 5+ cover saves, and Weirdboyz can cause some serious shenanigans as well, so consider what options you can add in to make it truely insane.

These megablobs are one case where sluggas can be better than shootas. Once they get into melee... you have an untargettable megablob stretching across the board, which is safe from those nasty pie plates and easily able to multi-assault at will

I'd say bring along Grotsnik and give every boy a 5++, hillarity ensues.

Sadly that won't help them vs D weapons, and the KFF gives them the same protection against 90% of shooting for 1% of the cost (you'd have to drop from 400+ boyz to maybe 250 to give them that save... ouch)
