Hello.
A user form this forum is interested in begingin with Infintiy and looks like he is very inetersted in werewolves. He asked me about a beginner army list with Ariadna and I though that this was a good idea for a Thread: Full Wolf Power Ariadna lists.

So, allow me to begin with a few of these:

CALEDONIAN HIGHLANDER ARMY
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 7 3 2

INTEL (CH: Mimetism) Rifle, HMG / Pistol, Knife. (8 | 12XP)
WALLACE Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, EXP CCW. (38)
WULVER Mk12, Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (38)
WULVER Mk12, Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (38)
WULVER T2 Rifle, Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (37)
WULVER Heavy Shotgun, Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (37)
CAMERONIAN 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / AP CCW. (22)
McMURROUGH 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / Templar CCW (AP + DA). (33)
CATERAN T2 Sniper Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 29)
VOLUNTEER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)

1.5 SWC | 300 Points

Open with Army 4

Ok, let's see how this looks like. We will have one of these:

Intel Spec Op

why? Because they are Tournament Legal and can use 12 XP. So we wil have an extra HMG with no SWC cost. And he can make a fireteam with Wallace and another Volunteer.

William Wallace

Lieutenant, that makes everyone behave as a Regular troop. And can Make fireteams with anyone.

Wulvers

The powerful fireteam made of werewolves.

Highlander Cateran

Deadly Sniper. The ARO troop from this list.

Cameronian

Big. Bad. Wolf.

McMurrough

Bigger. Badass. Wolf.

Volunteer with HMG

Wallace and the Intel spec Op can make a last minute fireteam with this guy. also, he carries an HMG.

Just by looking at these products in Wayland Games the whole army will be 76,94 ₤ (about 130 $)

Another Army list full of Wolves would be:

ARIADNA
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 6 4 3

CONTROLLER (Control Device) Rifle, Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (34)
3x ANTIPODE AP CCW.
MARGOT AP Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 75)
DUROC 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / AP CCW.
DOG-WARRIOR 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / AP CCW. (28)
TANKHUNTER Autocannon, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 40)
CAMERONIAN 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / AP CCW. (22)
CALEDONIAN MORMAER Lieutenant AP HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 48)
SCOUT E/Mauler, Ojótnik / Pistol, Knife. (31)
S.A.S. Chain Rifle, Light Shotgun / Pistol, AP CCW. (22)

5.5 SWC | 300 Points

Open with Army 4

How would this look like:

Assault Pack

Old but GOLD. Consider this pack of wolves as a guided missile. They'll advance towards an enmey as just one cammo marker and destroy it. 99% efficient.

Equipe Mirage 5

A Dog warrior para trooper? and his ultra efficient girlfriend too?! Demolishing.

Dog Warrior

The face of Cost-effectiveness. Cheap and terrifying for the enemy player.

TankHunter with Autocannon

The ARO troop. Something that other factions can just dream of.

Cameronian

Big Bad Wolf

Mormaer

Your Lt. has an HMG now.

Scout

Cammo Skirmishers are always useful.

S.A.S.

Cammo Skirmishers are always useful.

How much would this army cost? wayland games say it's 90,62 ₤ (about 147$)

And that's it.
What would be your wolf Power lists?

At 300 points my Ariadna Wolves (or more Caladonian Wolves) list would be based on:

- 2-3 Cameronians
- McMurrogh
- William Wallace as Lieutenant
- maybe 1 Wulver

Based on the goal of my game (missions for example) I would add options from this pool:

- Dozer with Akrylat-Kanone (to stop nasty units. hoefully at long range)
- Uxia McNeill and/or another S.A.S. (Specialist / FO versions should be nice for objectives, but I think that's mainly for tournaments (don't know the new rules exactly)
- a 4-5-man-link of Volunteers or ScotsGuard with 3-4 cheer leaders and 1-2 heavy weapons (HMG, Missile Launcher, Molotok)
- a Cateran with T2 sniper rifle
- 3rd Highlander with AP HMG or a T2 weapon if I need more firepower

Without testing I can't say if either of those lists will work, but it should be fun to play. Even if it's only your opponents face when deploying 4 dogwarriors. ^^

They're both fine as non-ITS lists, but I'd never describe any 300pt list as a beginner's army.

Also, Spec Ops are only legal in Spec Ops tournaments. :(

Focus on important things for a beginner, you veterans.
IMHO, when recomending the first models and first army list, a beginner player needs a few things for getting into Infinity:

- No proxys. (Do not confuse the player telling him to deploy a miniature that is not exactly what it represents)
- No miniature left behind. (don't recommend an Starter Pack if the list would leave 1 or 2 miniatures left)
- Not repeating any miniature.
- Everything has to be good looking.
- Include images. (Usually people just paste an army list. A wall of words completely impossible to understand for a beginner.)

It doesn't matter if the army list is ultra competitive or not. In the hands of a rookie, the best army list will loose against a veteran with a "Playing for fun" list. That is the beauty of this game.

OK, I didn't make myself clear.

I think recommending that a new player get (or even aim for) a 300pt force is a mistake because they'll want to start playing at that points level. In my experience, that's going to go horribly wrong.

Much better to start with 150pt and get a feel for what kind of units and tactics the player likes, then add on from there.

Hey thanks Bobafett! I'm the new player he was talking about I kinda like the look of the first list. Also it is actually within my price range!

@IJW: So then The Intel Spec-Ops can't be used in regular play? What would be a good replacement for them?

Edit: Maybe the Mirage 5? for backfield shenanigans?

If you like the model you could just proxy it for a line trooper etc. for now, then later on use it as a Spec Ops when the occasion arises.

I do like the model. Anyway I could work the Mirage 5 into the first list?

Yes right, I do the same thing with the Haqqislam spec ops guy (just use him as a Ghulam)

I got my mate into Ariadna lately, I can attest to the nightmarish task of a new player trying to use 300pts of counts-as camofest ariadnians

Tankhunters are beast, if you run ariadna and aren't taking them, I honestly don't know what your thinking!
