Now, the Terran stuff I mostly have covered, thanks to that thread, and I have an idea for Protoss Zealots as well, but pretty much anything else Protoss I'm stumped on, and while Zerg seem obvious (various Tyranids), stuff like Ultralisks and the Hydralisk's head have me stumped as well. I'm also wondering what a good base for a Kerrigan figure would be, a mostly bare (no armor or hard to shave details) female mini that's in a good pose. What do you guys think? Anything come to mind for Protoss units like the High Templar, the Dragoon, or the Reaver, or the Zerg stuff? Any help would be appreciated.
Dark eldar base for Kerrigan? Some of the models have corsetryas part of their armour. Also I always thought Hydralisk would workquite well as Raveners with the old warrior head thatlooks like the Alien queen.
Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
For a project like this, take the army one guy at a time and just ask yourself what shapes each unit breaks down into. A crescent here, a box here, a sphere here, and then you go and try to find some good bits to represent them. There's actually a great Kerrigan model in the Creature Caster kickstarter that is starting right now. It might be a bit large, but in SC Kerrigan seems to come in different sizes depending on the mission. For instance, in the Terran campaign of SC2, every time you face her she seems really, really tall.
Have you tried looking at Infinity? They have models that would make good Kerrigan bases. In fact, one of their characters is loosely based on Kerrigan. Some things on the top of my head:
For the original Kerrigan, or the SC2 HotS one (just change the hair a bit)
Based on the Infested Kerrigan, although this one has more tech on it, so you have to modify those.
Naked figures can also be used as a base (if you're good at greenstuff!). Here are some Dark Sword figures that I think would be a good base:
Spoilers for nudity
Spoiler:
Sculpt some bio armor, add wings and zerg dreadlocks.
Much more harder to convert because of hair, but the pose is freaking cool.

That's true, I remember her being really big in one of the later missions where she's rampaging around a city or something... (It's been a while since I've played SC2, I'm replaying the series right now though). I'd be interested to see this Creature Caster Kerrigan, I can't seem to find it on their site, unless you mean the giant monster lady, in which case that's really very large for this scale. Really cool, though.

The problem with Infinity is I hear it's a slightly smaller scale than Warhammer stuff, so I could end up having a Kerrigan that's smaller than any other humans on the board, which might not be a problem when she's just hanging with her brood, given they're all alien monsters, but if she ends up in combat with, say, a squad of Guardsmen, it'd really bother me. That said, I haven't seen any Infinity stuff in person, so I don't really know for sure, and those are some good picks for different versions of her (I'd be going for the Queen of Blades version, obviously, but I suppose could also field a Ghost Kerrigan in my Terran army provided they weren't facing each other...)

Woah, I really like that first one. I was thinking of a kind of confident strut sort of pose for her, I hadn't even considered a pose like that, but it would be really cool. The only thing is an upright pose would be a lot easier to sculpt her armor and stuff onto, I think. I'll have to think about that.
Oh, okay. Well that wouldn't bother me as much, especially since GW's female minis are generally a little more realistically proportioned- Well, okay, "realistic" isn't exactly the right word, but they have smaller hands. Granted the reason for this is because they're afraid of making any woman in the entire 40k universe anything but a supermodel, but hey, it works out for me here at least.
Hmm, I do like that, but my concern would be that it would be too big for a Tyranid Warrior body, which is probably what I'll do for Hydralisks, given their shared bony ribcage-looking carapace, and I'll just replace their lower half with a green stuff tail or maybe a Ravener tail if it turns out I can't get that to come out well (I'm not great at green stuff aside from like, flat square-ish armor).
I suppose if their head plate/crest thing isn't large enough I could always extend it with some spiky spare Tyranid bits and some green stuff. My real concern about the Hydralisk head is the face, that human skull look they have (in SC1, at least), and their... How do I put it, their extra jaws that come out to the sides?
You know, these:
I'm just not familiar enough with Tyranid bits to know what I could do about that. Or, really any bits other than Space Marine, IG and Tau. Those are the only kits I really have experience with.
I'd like their heads to look roughly like this one by EpochStudioz:
I don't expect it to look a lot like that, since he's way more talented than I am, but his work is what made me want to try the Zerg, and not just the Terran and Protoss. I sent him an email asking if he could help me identify some of the bits, but he hasn't sent anything back yet (not surprising, since he seems to have kind of disappeared after closing EpochStudioz).
