Building my own model almost time to paint. Hung up on weather to paint armor green or go black like the Dark Angels pre heresy... GW and everyone else has his armor green. Just wondering if there is a reason behind it?

It's to add to the intrigue as to whether or not he's one of the Fallen or one of the few who stayed loyal and fought Luther's forces on Caliban before the Dark Angels returned.

Option A is that the studio painting team are idiots and forgot to do it black, option B is that its a hint that Cypher is actually a misunderstood Loyalist on some personal crusade. Which do you prefer?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

*In the new Dataslate they state that those who remained loyal and fought against Luther re-painted their armor Green.*

I found out during the Horus Heresy weekender that the real reason for the change from black to dark green was the artwork supplied for the cover of an Epic supplement for Epic called 'Space Marine':

Until then all DA where black.
As things like photoshop did not yet exist, GW had to run with the artwork as it was.
They then had to come up with a reason for the colour change & eventually, as details of the HH & the DA background were developed, the change due to the split within the legion was chosen.
IMO Cypher should be black.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
