I mean this as fluff and as an army to use. Please post any additional info, this can be from fluff to tactics and to an army list.

It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want to run a gunline of bolters, go with Imperial Fist. If you like fire, go with Salamanders. Want a ton of special Characters? Ultramarines. Terminators, Dark Angels.

There is really no "best" chapter, it all depends on your play style.

If you want a balance of fluff and rules, then Salamanders are your besties. Their background is engaging and unique without being all special snowflakey. Their colors are easy to paint. Conversion bits are easy to find. Their themes lend themselves well to a wide variety of conversions and paint jobs. And their rules make them one of the best varieties of Marine in the game, at least within the current rules set.

Well, for me its Blood Angels. Its not that I like their fluff so much, but the models are great and rules used to be are great when the codex came out. I've used the DC sprues to build Assault Marines.

If we're just looking at rules, then this is a definite point. And the fluff for the Space Sharks is pretty dope, too.

Not a big fan of their look, though. All-grey is kind of visually dull.

Fluffwise I like Raven Guard... rules wise I hate that their 1 chapter tactic ends after turn 1... that's the main reason I haven't started a marine army yet. Really wanted a RG force but I now I'll wait and see what happens with the wolves

Re-rolling 1's army wide is the best trait as it is used so often. Also, Lysander is the bomb with EW. I put him with my Centurions and he makes the unit tough.

Well you can splatter blood paint all over them. That certainly helps their look.

Yeah they are my second favorite SM chapter. Gotta love that bolter drill. And I've been experimenting with Carcharadon allies...

I'd have to go with Salamanders.. Then again, I'm just a fan of flame throwers in general.

Dark Angels for the fluff. I don't play a lot, though, so can't answer for them as an army.

The Black Templars are the only chapters that have kept up the Emperor's vision of the crusade for 10,000 years.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting Templars to be in the lead, despite being as awesome as they are.

Ok I agree that Black Templar are the best that's why I have them.

But I'm looking for another one, my what I likes are tanks, planes/fighters/bombers, close range fighting, combat, gun lines, bikes and landspeeders. All space marines have them but, which one excels most of them, but also are nice to paint, looks nice. I would go for guard but I hate painting faces.

Alpha Legion. They get to use everybody's chapter tactics. They even get to use Xenos and Adepta Sororitas.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Iron Hands! They look smashing in black and silver, their rules are great and their fluff is awesome.

Or Space Wolves. They have epic beards, are Vikings in spehs and have all sorts of awesome fluff. They are also the most distinct and diverse chapter.
