After a few revisions of my original list that incorporated Devilfish, I am now thinking something along these lines.

HQ

Cadre Fireblade (60)

Elites

XV104 Riptide (185)
Ion Accelerator

Troops

8x Fire Warriors

9x Fire Warriors

9x Fire Warriors

9x Fire Warriors

Fast Attack

4x Pathfinder Team

Pulse Carbines and Markerlights

4x Pathfinder Team
Pulse Carbines and Markerlights

Heavy Support

Hammerhead Gunship
Blacksun Filter
Diruption Pod
Railgun
Two Gun Drones

XV88 Broadside Team
3x Twin Linked high-yield missile pod
3x Twin linked smart missile system
3x EWO

So thats the list, its an all round list as its random who I will face and what they will bring, I have tried to account for the odd land raider and flyer that will undoubtedly show up, the only issue I see is objective holding and maneuverability.

Any ideas?

Thanks

+ Fireblade runs better with a full squad of 12 due to his extra shot ability.
+ If you want to run a Railhead, I would get the sub shot to have the option of a pie plate and also find the points to take longstrike. +1 BS, tank hunter and overwatch. I tend to use sms but that comes down to personal preference.
+ add an ewo to the tide. Are you running fusion or sms on him?

Good point on the Fireblade, I think he is the best option over the ethereal though?

Again awesome I idea with the Railhead, where would you find the points though?

I was running the tide with TL fusions, EWO is on the broadsides.

+ In this list most would say an ethereal.
+ I would still add an ewo on the tide. Will take care of any deepstriking 2+ 3+ units.
+ Probs refine your FW to add the changes. I never leave without a squad of kroot.

I would second the previous comments about trying to bring Kroot into this list. At the 1000 point level there will be a lot of maneuver room and open space and their ability to infiltrate and/or out flank can easily allow you to take an objective that you otherwise wouldn't be able to with foot slogging FWs. FWs are great at shooting things but moving them across the board in the open usually results in them dying quickly and will negate the bonus conferred by the Fireblade. The kroot can also line break.

I would recommend running your TROOPS as

12 FWs (unit to attach the Fire Blade to) this is your unit to lurk and act as a base of fire not moving getting the bonus shots from the Firebalde

10 FWs - close range objective holder, shouldn't draw to much fire

12 Kroots (sniper rounds) plus hound. You can infiltrate or outflank (your choice of side thanks to Hound) based on what your opponent has. This is a line breaker or deep objective holder and thanks to the Sniper Rounds can even threaten MCs.

in doing this you can free up 28 points

I would also recommend having EWO on your Riptide (5 points) instead of paying for it 3 times over on your Broadsides (15 points). this allows you to double your interceptor range and have a chance at +2 Strength depending on your choice of weapon profile. It will make deep striking units think twice as a Riptide usually controls the middle of a field and are mobile while broadsides are campers.

in doing this you can free 10 points.

with the 38 free points you could do the following:

add 3 more pathfinders (33 points) giving one squad 6 and the other 5 which should average 3 markers per target. By having three markers per target you can both eliminate any cover bonus and also increase BS by 1 on two different priority targets. Pathfinders don't last and by adding 3 to the overall mix you might stretch them out an extra turn.

with the remaining 5 i would add the sub-munitions on the Railhead (5 points) this gives the vehicle a much more versatile profile if your opponent is a horde or infantry based army.

For STUFFFING!!!!!
